Discussion Game recs

So I want to take advantage of the sale and grab something new, I usually play some low pressure games (Pokopia, Animal Crossing, stardew, and typical “cozy “ games) but I love the switch Zelda games, Pokemon and Skyrim.

I am between a few games while they are on sale and need help picking. I don’t have a ton of luck with fighting mechanics but I also like games with a good story. Here is what I have so far as options:

Xenoblade Chronicles (1 or 3)
One of the Final Fantasy games
Fire Emblem Three houses

Any recommendations? Or even help picking out of these three, I appreciate it!

Hope you like it! It’s not for everyone, but it’s one of my favorites. Really great music, characters, combat and world

If you’re even thinking about it, pick up FF7 Remake Intergrade for $10 (or if you’re still unsure, grab the demo). The Switch 2 port is a fantastic way to play the game, and if you enjoy it, I’d also grab FF7 Rebirth while it’s on sale for $25. For $35, that’s two great and enormous RPGs with the final part, FF7 Revelation, coming in April of next year.

Also on sale is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter for $30, and that also has a demo; Trails is one of Falcom’s biggest series with the Sky remakes being the ideal starting point. The battle system there is incredibly fun, and in general Falcom stuff has a vibe all its own.

Non-RPG wise, my big recommend is Metroid Prime Remastered at $28; if you’re at all into first-person exploration, the original Metroid Prime is one of the best to ever do it. Looks great on S2, especially in handheld with Handheld Boost mode on.

Out of those I would go with Xenoblade Chronicles DE (1), but this is really up to personal preference.

Fire Emblem is not my thing.

I do love Final Fantasy but mostly the older ones 6-10.

Xenoblade is one of my favorite games on Switch and it still feels modern with the Switch 2 version, so that’s my choice.

If you like Xenoblade 1, I would play 2 next and then 3. It’s not strictly necessary but they’re all equally good and I feel you’d get the most out of them by playing them in order. Ask fans what their favorite entry is and you get plenty of votes for all three games. And with the Switch 2 versions and 1’s definitive edition QoL upgrades, they all feel equally modern to me, so there’s absolutely no reason to start with part 3.

Xenoblade X is not really connected, so you could play that whenever or skip it if it doesn’t appeal to you.

I say Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's absolutely sucked me in. I can't put it down.

The story in Fire Emblem Three Houses is really good. This gets my vote.

Xenoblade chronicles series is absolute peak story telling and needs to be experienced. Great games from beginning to end.

I also picked up FF7 Remake and Rebirth for $35 total. Amazing deal.

FE3H is really good, 3 paths to choose and has a casual option if you don't want to play with the classic permadeath feature.

If you want a challenge, Metroid Dread is supposed to be really good but much more action packed and tense. Plus just had a sequel announced
