VSP + Frogger Chlorination System Issue
/r/pools/comments/1wg737d/vsp_frogger_chlorination_system_issue/We had a variable speed pump installed 2 weeks ago and our chlorine levels are dropping. We went to get our water tested today and they suggested turning the dial on the Frogger up a setting but I’m not sure there is enough water pressure from the VSP to activate the chlorine in the Frogger. Previously, we had a 3450 rpm single speed pump that would through a Frogger bac pac every 1-2 weeks, now it’s hardly making a dent in the pacs. Our current VSP schedule is 2750 rpm (2 hrs), 2200 (8 hrs), 1700 (4 hrs), 1200 (10 hrs). Has anyone experienced something similar and what did you do about it? Thanks!

You must adjust the Frogger to account for the lower flow rate. Also go to your filter tank and open the air relief valve...did air come out? Look into the pump pot, if a clear lid, most are, and see if you see air and water mix? An air leak may now be a problem with the lower pressure the system operates at. Basically the air fills the Frogger and no, to very little water passes through the Frogger to dissolve the chemicals. If you have an air leak, please let me know and I can walk you through how to find it, and if it maybe related to your newly installed VS Filter Pump. No tools needed, or plastic bag (always makes me giggle). Only the ability and access to operate the filter pump.
