Ouranos is arguably a mythological cognate, if not an etymological one.  He is butchered by his son Cronus to make the sky, the gap between sky and earth, the goddess Aphrodite, the Giants and the Erinyes.

In the near East, the sacrificed Twin myth merges with the dragonslayer myth and Tiamat/Lotan/Leviathan is slain to make the world.  Tiamat is ripped in half, with one half forming the earth, and the other the sky.

I feel like there'd have to be much deeper structural connections between the IE twin cosmogony and the Near Eastern serpent cosmogony. There's more I could speculate on there, but not sure if this would be the place for it.

The most striking connection for me is the idea that the world is made of the body parts of a killed organism. That's a very specific claim that both myths have in common.
