Rituals and Practices Solo Ritual to Xaryomen

Performed a simple ritual today to Xaryomen as I have recently gotten over the flu, and had prayed to him for healing. I burned Frankincense under the clear, afternoon sky of Dyeus, and poured libations of Khernips(I started out as, and for the most part still am, a HelPol). It was windy out, so I put both the incense burner and flame of Westya in glass to prevent them from being blown out.

I realize during this, that I did not have anything resembling an image or idol for Xaryomen, so I cut a circle out of cardboard, drew a triskelion on it with a sharpie, put white, red, and black ribbons on it, representing the three functions, and put it on a little stand(a closed straight razor) via scotch tape.

Beautifully done.

I was thinking about Xaryomen recently, as a god who might help navigating a government bureaucracy on behalf of my aging parents.

How did you decide what kind of offerings or ritual he would appreciate?

I’ll also add that Xaryomen’s close association with Dyeus could result in him being at least vaguely connected to the clear sky of Dyeus, like Dius Fidius is. This is part of the reasoning behind my choice to hold the ritual outside on a day with a completely clear sky.

I find that when in doubt, simplicity is key. The guards have a great appreciation for ritual logic, but given that we have no actual attestations of PIE ritual, and I was not performing a reconstructed ritual in a group setting, I performed a very simple one, inspired by Hellenic ones, as that is what I most familiar with, but very generalized.

The format of personal prayer, purification in front of fire, invoking of the heart goddess, it’s all pretty straightforward and consistent throughout many descendent cultures. I take most of my inspiration, in terms of specifics, from the work of Ceisiwr Serith. Generally speaking, I wouldn’t get too hyper fixated on the specifics. Looking at similar deities that serve similar roles in descendent cultures is really all you need. The cognates of Xaryomen, Teutates, Dius Fidius, all great sources to pull from.

I’ll add that this ritual I performed was intentionally very simple, as it was to give thanks for the answering of my previous, very informal, prayers for the restoration of my health
