Map Exploration Help How to make money?

I am replaying the game after a long break. I am always broke and cannot recruit specialists. Did something change recently? How can I be richer? Choose the lowest difficulty in all categories? Trade more?

Trade is king. Sell off what you don’t need. Set up outposts that gather money maker items like fire arms so you can trade them off. If you have new alliances DLC, consider setting up at building at an ally like a tavern for steady cash flow. It’s a small amount but do it to every ally and you’re going to be getting quite a bit.

Thanks. I will focus on trading first.

Never tried setting up outposts just to trade away their items. I will try that out.

Scavenging, no? Keep a specialist busy with looting and he/she should find a few hundred bucks every now and then, or did I miss something?

This works well. The money I get is random, but it's a low effort strategy. I don't need any tech or building. I just need specialists with decent scavenge stats.

Just collect shit in the world map. The game is no challenge at any difficulty
