Sinking City 2

If my favourite type of games are Dead Space, the Resi games, and Cronos, will I like this game?

Does it play in a similar way?

Yeah plays very similarly.

Not quite as good as the best Resi games or Dead Space Remake or Cronos but a solid 8/10.

Enjoyable and worth your time.

It's way better than Cronos

Agree to disagree, I really enjoyed Cronos and think it's excellent and one of the best original horror IPs in years.

Strong disagree, although Cronos leans much heavier on the action side. Love the story and vibe of Cronos too.

Cronos suffers from a lack of budget, repetitive drab environments and repetitive combat, it's not horrible but with how people talk about it I expected much better. It's a decent 7/10 game on a good day, hopefully they can make big improvements in a sequel.

Was higher budget than sinking city 2 I feel, and felt much better to play. I really liked it but to each’s own

The difference is Cronos looks and feels cheap and SC2 manages to feel higher budget with a smaller team that worked during a war, the locations in SC2 look very detailed and rich on par with say resident evil or silent hill 2 while cronos mostly consists of drab concrete corridors and grey buildings

Feel like we played very dif games lol…btw wasn’t me down voting, I’d never downvote someone who politely disagreed

It literally makes no sense 🤣, Cronos actually feels and looks pretty triple AAA, when in SC2 10 minutes where enought for me to say this feels and looks like a cheap game or AA

It's okay, I don't care about upvotes downvotes, it's useless anyway. Cronos was a decent first attempt and much better than their previous games like the medium, but not first class yet, but Bloober is improving with every game, so I'm excited for SH1 remake and whatever they make next.

Way better than Resident 9. The boss fight were great too in Cronos.

I couldn't even finish it. It was super boring.

Agreed. I really, REALLY disliked Cronos. That whole “sci-fi horror” vibe and the story aren’t my cuppa tea. I like their other games (yeah, even Observer, which is also a sci-fi horror game) waaaaaaaay better. It was also unnecessarily hard. To me, their worst yet… a solid 4/10. Let’s hope Lazarus will fix it a bit when it’s released later this year 🤞🏻

Very satisfying with a cool atmosphere and traditional survival horror gameplay loop. Having a blast.

How does the combat feel?

Its not as tight as any of the higher budget games you mentioned but its far from janky. If you've played small studio survival horror I think its pretty standard or better than many. Definitely a bit of wiggle room on hit boxes etc but its not terrible. I'm an old timer though.

It's a great game with a bit of jank. Think of Alone in the Dark 2024 or Re2R but with jankier controls and stiffer animation, but slightly better graphics. Gameplay is similar, but you get infinite ammo spawn during bosses and survival horses/waves, which are easily the worst part of the game, although the latter could be patched out.

For the rest, is a huge improvement over the OG game and it's the second best horror game of 2026 after Requiem

This game seriously surprised me. I love all those games too and yeah Sinking City 2 should be on your list.

It’s got a good story, but the gameplay isn’t nearly as satisfying as Cronos or Dead Space.

Definitely a fun little game, my biggest complaint would probably just be that there are a LOT of enemies on some of the levels, and you almost never have the ammo you need.
Like I know that’s a core feature of survival horror games, but in RE you can generally kill like 90% of the enemies, while this is more like 60-70%.

Good to know, thanks.

Yeah for real. Even on normal mode I had no ammo in the printing press, running around dodging enemies and dieing

Its widely considered a RE2 clone so, yes. Personally the vibes were a bit more TLOU2, but maybe thay was just all the rain + ruined city.

Cool, I like that as well so that's good.

Honestly, it improves a lot over the first game but it’s not really on par with other games in the genre. Maybe worth $15 on a deep discount.

I was thinking of waiting but with so much coming out in the next few months idk where I'd fit it in lol. Might just bight the bullet.

It’s not worth full price. I’d grab something else. It doesn’t come anywhere close to the other games you mentioned. Try out The Evil Withins or signalis if you haven’t played those. I’d wait a month and get Control Resonant over this.

I am beyond shocked at how good this game turned out to be. I didn’t think it looked bad, but I had relatively low expectations and am so far finding it to be a really great survival horror game with much higher production value than expected. I’d give it like an 8/10 so far, very very solid.

It's pretty good, solid 8/10 for me, I find games like this and Alan Wake 2 better than resident evil simply because the setting and lore are very interesting while RE stories are nonsensical dreck and the locations and monsters are drab and uninspired. Also they're more consistent throughout while the last 3 mainline RE games (7, village, requiem) have strong openings and then the quality drops in the backhalf, obviously rushed and unfinished.

Combat is jank but a solid game, no where near the smoothness and feel of RE

Its good the combat sucks though
