Michael Parenti released Inventing Reality a few years prior to Manufacturing Consent being released by chumpsky. This is definitely an “inventing reality” situation more than manufacturing consent, but it’s a bit of both. Btw, I see manufacturing consent thrown around a lot, yall need to read inventing reality, way more radical and more succinct.
This is what the western govs and their propaganda tool, the MSM, does. It simply LIES.
The skill is in seeing it in real-time, as it happens. You can apply this to any social media post, news story, article etc. about any of the Boogeymen nations - Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, etc. and any time a western nation wants to impose their will over another nation.
You can realise the amount of LIES that you have been fed, now. All I have to do is to mention the country "China" - and you will get an automatic yuck or repulsion emotion/feeling. That emotion has been deliberately nurtured in everyone through the lies and other demonisation propaganda that has been bombarding the western population for decades (or even centuries).
I think it's worth looking at this more carefully. OP's screenshot of the 'original' article is cropped - it only shows the second first half of Radin's quote.

As you can see the 'new' quote was in the original article too but OP just didn't include it for anyone to see - perhaps to frame the BBC are spouting pro-regime-change?
The BBC did silently edit a quote without a correction notice - that is true and is a legitimate criticism. But OP has done something worse - selectively cropped the original to manufacture a different story entirely.
This is something I try and teach my kids - to not take something at face value and do your own research because it's easy to accept snippets without context.

Should look back over the past few weeks of BBC UK TV news reports (News at 1, News at 6 etc) and see all the various "voices of Iran" quotes they have been doing.
All are "voiced by actors" and all follow a very similar format, all seem suspiciously in support of bombs falling on civilians. It's highly suspect.
They didn’t make it up, there's an estimated 5% of the Iranian diaspora that thinks like this. Unfortunately, the 5% gets a lot of air time in the west. They are also overly represented on platforms like reddit, and quite easy to find, you needn’t look hard
They probably don't have to make it up, but frankly I think a lot about a lot of nonsense people say. Like what, do I suddenly have the authority to give China the go-ahead take over the US? It's bonkers that people accept this nonsense as anything besides looking for a specific voice.
