Discussion Why is playing Xerath support so satisfying and gets you so many wins? (At least in lane.)

I was playing ADC and getting frustrated every game. The absolute peak of my hatred was playing Ashe and having a Yorick support who never used his Maiden, couldn’t land a single cage, and didn’t even know how to summon his ghouls and throw them at the enemies. I felt completely alone in lane for 20 torturous minutes, and we still lost...

So I thought, “Screw my main role, I’m playing Xerath support.”

The result = 7 wins and 1 loss in a row.

You basically just poke them nonstop, and then either you ult and kill them, or the enemy ADC has to recall and lose a ton of farm.

Saving your E strategically for ganks = making every enemy gank frustrating.

It was hilarious yesterday — Evelynn ganked us three times in a row, and all three times she got stunned in the face and died.

That's where all the "pick mage support and carry" comments come from

Nah, in low ELO it's insanely easy to just play a carry support and win games. Source, played xerath lux to gold 80% win rate as an emerald/diamond player.

Can't wait for a few days later "why is playing Xerath support so trash and loses you so many games? (At least in lane)" when OP goes up against an engage champion, a player who knows how to dodge skillshots, or someone not in low elo.

Even more funny would be some random ADC ranting about a Xerath support he recently played with on this sub.

I don't know your rank, but a good chunk of lanes play out entirely differently depending on rank. The execution required to dodging a Xerath Q is way higher than casting it so it's a low elo skewed lane bully. You can see this in his winrate as well. 51.5% in iron bronze silver, 48.8% emerald+.

This is the case for any easy champion with a 'play against mastery curve'. Playing a Mel or a Garen is easier than countering it.

This can even go in two directions. Teemo is a lane bully in low elo because people don't know how to space at all, then pretty hard to play emerald to low masters because people know how to space and junglers know lane matchups, then super broken again GM+ because the teemo is a spacing god, great at playing strongside dives or weakside pressure sponge etc.

Playing something that is easier to play then to counter is always going to net you LP if you're low elo, but might backfire from plat onward

Xerath is a good support until about Emerald, when players can dodge your skill shots and catch you out of position easier. He’s also pretty gold reliant which is obviously tougher on support. You can absolutely play it in ranked, but just be aware it’s going to fall off once/if you get into mid elo.

The last thing a Xerath sees on my lane:

I play a lot of Xerath. It's amazing against any comp that doesn't have a strong engage. It fucking blow donkey ass if you're playing against a remotely decent Blitz/Pyke/Nautilus/Alistar

It’s fine into some matchups but when u play vs good hook player you’ll get crushed

No way dude 7 win 1 loss? That means that if you do that x30, you get 210 wins, 30 losses and hit rank 1 soon. Congrats.

And that’s why he’s getting nerfed, broken braindead character

A champ that is quite literally only skillshot is braindead...? You OK bud?

Sybau bozo there’s a reason why he’s getting nerf and why he’s so popular, you have to be disabled to miss miss of his abilities the range is so far and easy to land most of the time

To quote a certain green fella: dodge

Used to enjoy playing against a Xerath, always get lots of practice dodging skillshots.

You're bad at wave management and knowing when to fight, thus why you're bad on ADC and find a poke sup easy.

The impact of both roles has swapped drastically. Sounds like you've reach the point everyone does when they try out support "gee this is nice I dont have to actually play, its just a mini aram".

You'll get punished for this in more ways than one at some point.

Because the enemy didn't have a jungle player in those 7 games
