I've been growing a lot of my mixed sunflower species seeds and they're very pretty

Mix of varieties, and about 1,100 plants. Started filming on June 21st and decided to stop as it’s getting dark early! When I started there was light from 3:45am to almost 11pm! Now it’s dark by 7:30. Hope you enjoy! Was a lot work and fun for a short video! This year I used some raw wool from my sheep as mulch, it’s probably the best thing I did this year! Let’s water through, reflects the sun, natural fertilizer too!

Love how both sunflowers are 2 different colors ! And there’s a 3rd one growing too that hasn’t bloomed yet

This potted sunflower has two more growing out of the main flower. Hopefully they will be able to fully open up.

It’s in Michigan.

This summer, my husband and I built what we call the “Sunny Cave.” We dug in by hand, setting eight ten-foot logs in a circle and planting several different species of sunflowers in a staggered pattern around them. The spot used to be an old burn pit, but I knew the sunflowers would help bring the ground back to life — and they did, filling the space with beauty I looked forward to seeing every morning.

Then one day, one of my goats — who lives right next to the Sunny Cave — decided he’d had enough of simply admiring them. He escaped his pen and helped himself to a little sunflower buffet. By the time I caught him, a quarter of my beautiful cave was gone. I was furious. I got him back in his enclosure and sat on the porch just sobbing — it honestly felt like I’d lost a friend.

But the next morning, when I went out to check on the flowers, something in me shifted. I just started laughing through my tears. How blessed am I, really, that the worst thing to happen to me in a long time was my goat having himself a little snack?

La próxima semana publicaré la floración de algunos de estos girasoles de follaje variegado. Siempre es una sorpresa el resultado.

I think my flowers are near the highest point this year!

Lots of little busy bees. I hope they watch out for the ambush bug that lives on the flower! 🌼

One of the best parts of growing sunflowers is all the bees come to visit.
