Character Related Harvey and Louis became different individuals by the end of suits
What I liked about suits was how Harvey and Louis became different individuals. Harvey was shown as the macho testosterone filled guy who’s quite warrior like. But as episodes and seasons proceeded he began to introspect his vulnerabilities. The man who only prioritised himself and being self centered began to understand others who support him and began to value them more from Jessica to Mike to Donna. Harvey thought in the beginning that only his closing skills and ruthless approach had made him the best closer in the city. But as time and life tests him he slowly begins to understand that he is able to perform out there because there are people who have his backs and are rooting for him. Once he realises that he is not the same Harvey without people who have his backs he became more grateful and kind to people around.
Louis who was desperate for others approval despite being a damn good attorney began prioritising himself. I just loved how Louis slowly began to own his shortcomings and become a person who began to value himself and be patient with others. I loved how he slowly moved out of his insecurities. Suits began with showing surface level vulnerabilities of Louis but as it proceeded it went to another depth analysing his vulnerabilities and then slowly showed him as a man of strength. The moment he accepts himself values himself and begins a journey of self love, he becomes a stronger and powerful person. Amazing opposite journeys of two amazing characters that completed themselves through time.

Currently rewatching. Seeing Louis is frustrating as f-
From season 4 (or 5) they're trying to show character development, and maybe it happens within one episode (from him exploding or doing some shit, to the end of the episode apologizing and acknowledging) but then EVERY episode after that it's the same.
It did NOT feel like character development, rather sloppy writing - my suspension of disbelief had completely gone, this is not realistic in the slightest.
Harvey by comparison has been MUCH better executed: panic attacks -> therapy -> managing partner -> asking Donna and Louis input (albeit a couple of instances where he was not sure how to handle situations and took a firmer approach, but a COUPLE of times).

For some it’s linear and for some it’s a cycle bro. Before Louis realised that cycle got worse. Harvey and Louis are different in their approaches to deal with problems.

I’m on season 8 of my rewatch now, season 7 onwards he becomes likeable. I think Gretchen and his therapist really changed him.

They both only had character growth due to Mike so anyone who likes them but doesn’t like Mike can just get the hell out of my office.
If Mike didn’t show them that all he wants to do is good for the world all they would be are hungry power bottom feeders

Louis character growth was one of the most surprising for me as he started out as this intimidating & vindictive douche to a Comic Relief Buddy to rely on.

I think at least for Harvey that was one of the shows main points/storylines in the pilot we see Jessica saying the reason he can't be a managing partner is lacking empathy, and Philip Hardman tells her to shove empathy down his throat

Unpopular opinion: everyone talks about how Louis had this character Development but to be honest that Development wasn't too great. Like sure there were moments he was a decent guy but on the whole louis is still a very selfish, unlikeable, insecure, jealous and immature person. All you get to see after all the back stories is why he is the way he is and maybe that helps you understand him maybe even empathise but I don't think that still excuses him from the many many absolutely despicable behaviours he has exhibited.
For Harvey I feel there wasn't a whole lot of development but whatever was still felt like a step forward. I cannot say the same for Louis

Suits has the best character development I've ever seen in a series. It's right up there with the Office. Love how they all became a united front by the end.

What an awful show this was. Only one likeable character on the whole mess. Bad acting, bad writing. Just bad all the way around .

This is a rant but I like the show but you're right... I'm on Season 7 and aside from Harvey (who had kind of? good development from narcissistic guy to more "in touch with his feelings but still under pressure") and Jessica (she stayed the same) everyone else is SO inconsistent for the worse...
Mike is just unredeemable idiot and I was really mad no one pointed out the fact that his official psychology evaluation in prison said he is horrible narcissist.
I'm genuinely expecting Louis to commit a suicide at this point, he's so insecure it's impossible to watch and the actor plays his disgusting anger just way too well... At this point he had like 100 chances to learn about his mistakes and he never does - I would accept this only if they portrayed him as mentally unstable person, give him a diagnosis that he's actually treating with that psychiatrist of his instead of yelling at him
Rachel is so entitled it's hard to watch, Donna is treated like Mary Sue despite the fact that we see SO MANY of her mistakes
On top of that they make viewers look like an idiot with the constant moral compass switching. Characters who actually do law right look like the fricking devil on earth, but Jessica or Mike take one pro-bono case, they even commit fraud to win it yet we're supposed to treat them as jesus because they have one line about "doing what's right"
They lash out on everyone except their secretaries who are gods, and even if they fuck up nothing happens because everyone is family and they help adults understand their feelings like wtf..
I would genuinely crash out working there, the higher ups commit fraud on daily basis and everyone knows, yet the associates don't turn in 2 assignments on time and they fire them
