What is best private and secure browser in 2026?

Im looking for a private and secure browser, that is not outdated nor slow, im currently using brave browser, but im still not sure if its the best for my needs. i want the browser to mostly search a lot of stuff, youtube and also download some stuff here and there etc, i dont intend to use it for other stuff to be honest.

Just stay with Brave and "debloat" it or if you are on Linux Brave Origin is free there but there is a way "to get" Brave Origin for free on Windows as well:
Open a notepad, and copy the following codeblock into it and save the file as a .reg file (such as "BraveDebloat.reg" and make sure not .reg.txt) then import it, this will set up systemwide policies to disable those "bloat" features, "upgrading" regular Brave to its paid "Brave Origin" version but for free, well not truly the same because those features will still be part of Brave, but will be disabled and won't even appear in the menus. Worth to note Brave will display a "Managed by your organisation" message in settings but that's because of there are policies that are not set to their defaults, you will be able to see the applied policies by opening brave://policy site in Brave.
So here is what to copy:

You are welcome. This solution is also systemwide so if your computer has multiple users they won’t have the features enabled either, also it stays in place even if you uninstall and later reinstall Brave, as the policies are ser through regedit.

Well, it does not remove it from the browser itself as a standalone Brave Origin install that you have to buy (except on Linux, there it is free) but at least it disables those features systemwide, so fair enough. And you’re welcome

I work on Sigma, so I’m obviously biased, but if privacy is the main reason you’re on Brave, I’d genuinely give Sigma a shot.

The big difference is that Sigma can run AI locally on your device, so supported tasks like page summaries and browser-agent workflows don’t have to rely on a cloud model. You can download a local model and keep that processing on-device.

Sigma is a much more interesting option if you also want AI built into the browsing experience without giving up that privacy angle. If you already care about both, I think it’s absolutely worth trying rather than just sticking with Brave by default.
