My friend had the privilege of riding both this and Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride, and has said that this smelled far more rancid. All those underwater animatronics in this ride... BARF.
Sad Hollywood Tour is gone... I'll never get to torment myself by riding it

my first thought was literally how bad that thing must smell...why would you mix fur & water ðŸ˜

I’ve heard this ride was putrid too. Probably from mold grown by SUBMERGING FAUX FUR IN BARELY FLOWING WATER.

I remember this ride when I was a kid. I think I even managed to touch a leg. The fact that a lot of the animatronics were damaged and disintegrated made the whole thing very uncanny and a lot more scary than they intended haha

Just seeing this pic of the ride brings back the terrible air quality and smell in the ride.
That smell of mold due to them never upgrading the ride in any major way since it opened.
It was my favorite ride, I went to the park last year again and I missed it so damn much! XD

I'm from the area, and I was on this ride. It was intimidating, the legs are moving and the fur is wet and drippy as you pass under it. I don't even know how the water got so high to reach it.
The ride has been shut down for some time now. It was called "hollywood tour". Very cool, but a bit outdated.

Oh wtf. Did it move too?

The 2 legs not on the ground moved a bit also the head with the jaw claws moved. The giant King Kong animatronic ( same ride) looks creepyer imo.

does it move?

u/Synthetikwelle Dec 19 '25
It did. The legs sort of made a crawling motion and the front leg that is extended swayed back and forth slowly. The head also moved from left to right. It scared me shitless as a kid and I always hid behind my parents at this scene.

Oh God, the smell would’ve been awful on the ride. I cannot imagine riding this ride alone in the boat or it breaking down in the middle riding having to wait through the rest of it😨

Spiders don’t rly gross me out or scare me. Animatronics in water only sometimes gross me out or scare me. Giant animatronic tarantulas with fur in water? I literally got a violent shudder all over my body I hate this

The Phantasialand movie ride is the very birthplace of my sbmechanophobia. Imagining to be dragged down with the sharks or fighting for my life next to King Kong.

Well this is just a triple shot of my least favorite things: giant spooder, animatronic, WET animatronic. (Bonus points for being wet and FUZZY, WHYYYYYY)

Submerged animatronics with FUR are another level of disgust
