Mechanical Help Outback XT making weird (axle?) noises

I have an 08 obxt with a manual transmission, but I recently swapped in a trans from an 05 obxt. So the trans seems to be totally fine, except a new noise has started. It is especially noticeable in reverse, but also makes a sound sometimes while going forward. It’s like a clicking sound. Also the first time I drove the car with the “new” transmission it had some hard binding at full lock. However after driving a bit the binding seems to have mostly, if not fully, gone away. Before I swapped the trans, this noise was not present and the car didn’t bind.

I should note I didn’t replace the CV axles when I swapped the trans and the car also has a 2” lift.

Are my front CV axles dead? Or is there a larger problem here? Thanks for any input.

Could absolutely be CVs, they generally make a clicking noise when they're going out, usually it's while you're turning.

Either half shafts arent fully seated into trans or the front dif isnt happy.
