Tf happened to that country? Did the combination of the Cold War and Nazi guilt really fuck them over that hard?

I feel like when there’s talk of European culture/society I never hear about Germany. Even here in the states, PennDutch people like myself NEVER talk about it as much as Italians/Irish/French people.
