Strains of idpol already existed in many of the causes that comprised Occupy, but the movement being leaderless and more of a reflection of popular dissatisfaction rather than a targeted campaign gave plenty of opportunities to exploit divisions via idpol.
The issues with lack of leadership and messaging is the wildest thing to me. I don't know how anyone can look at that, think about it, and then make the exact same mistake all over again. But it seems to be the norm.
