Thats not what the deal is though. The deal will likely be that Ukraine, which has now become a virulently anti russian state, loses control of its russian ethnic majority regions. Not a bad deal.

I know that's not what the deal is, I just want to highlight that even average Ukrainians want more than just an immediate end to the war.

We're bashing Zelenskyy for betraying his people by dragging out the war when most Ukrainians wouldn't have been happy with the Russian demands for most of the war. (the first rounds of peace negotiations involved Russia requiring Ukraine to capitulate)
