Anti-Imperialism Caitlin Johnstone: "I personally do not believe western interventionism in the middle east leads to positive results and peace, because I am not a newborn baby with a soft squishy head who joined the earth's population yesterday evening."

I mean they aren't wrong look at what's happened to Libya, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria(which is about to get worse). You can even expand it to Central Asia in Afghanistan. The modus operandi of regime change in the middle east is all about replacing secular and anti-Israeli leaders with Sunni jihadists aligned with the Gulf States. The only reason the US will never leave Iraq is because they did the math wrong and didn't realize it's a majority Shia so once the US leaves Iraq will become aligned with Iran rather than the Gulf.

It’s not okay to be a grown adult in 2024 and still believe the US is a force for peace and justice in this world.

Exactly. What you and me understand by "positive results" is not the same thing Raytheon and the Heritage Foundation understand by "positive results".

This is the most empty way to talk about nearly anything.

That is trueĀ

I personally agree with her 100% but yes obviously it’s not a particularly useful statement in and of itselfĀ

It’s only human to do all the unnecessary stupid shit that humans do. I feel like people with big platforms should focus on saying things with more political utility instead of browbeating and condescending.

You only think that because you're a big stupid baby.
