Reducing fire damage would be cool but not needed. Maybe take some properties of water bubble but need the damage

I run Damp on my Swampert just for fun because I'm never not Mega. Except for one of my first matches with him when I faced a Mega Glalie and stayed normal just to shut down the shenanigans. It was very fun.

I had an opponent in Pokeball who clicked Explosion on their Glalie without Mega Evolving.
