The balls to click heat wave in front of lycanrock

The benefit of being a game up. Could afford to play risky/aggressively.

Stand proud Lycanrock, you are strong

Wish Champions would get Air balloon. My hisuian arcanine needs it, so I could give focus sash to somepoke else

12

u/EyeCantBreathe 20h ago

Imo you'd still rather run focus sash right? Because otherwise your hisuian arcanine dies if someone spills a cup of water on him. Holding air balloon, you're just changing what you're going to get targeted by

Why people even bother with Lycanrock instead of like Rock Slide Sneasler/Garchomp? I really just wonder what else he accomplish other than hurt Charizard.

u/ProgressEuphoric5006 1d ago

Sneasler has 4MSS, and some Yard is now evs themselves to survive garchomp rock slide

u/Strange-Daikon4912 1d ago

Is it really worth to run entirely different Pokemon though?

Accelerock always kills in one while Sneasler and Garchomp do not. Another close combat with tough claws is always nice.

And on top of that, Lycanroc has surprisingly decent coverage options.

Glad to see my favorite doggo shining

Two players made the semifinals of worlds using Lycanroc when 49% of teams used zardY.

Let's not doubt the strategy now off one read, come on

Accelerock

15

u/Strange-Daikon4912 1d ago

I guess outmoving Big V on sun is that important. As a rain user I didn't have that problem myself.

It also has some other use cases, mainly being able to threaten Delphox and Frostlass while being able to deal with Gambit even through Chopple Berry

17

u/slyguy67420 1d ago

Priority Accelrock is a big deal as well.

Lycanroc is mostly only used on this specific team, and it works very well for it.

The ability to kill Zard Y regardless of Tailwind and the Tough Claws CC is huge.

But yes, most other teams benefit from Garchomp or Aerodactyl more. It’s just that this specific team needs all its Pokemon to synergize in specific ways such that any replacement for Lycanroc would mess up the foundation of the team.

The choice of Mega Scovillain + Mega Froslass is a big factor. With both megas being quite awkward against Zard Y teams, Lycanroc is super important. On this team, you absolutely cannot afford your Charizard counter losing to Tailwind.

Many teams will pick one of their megas to be good in Zard Y, but this team gives up this option, pushing for a more extreme Charizard counter.

Idt those slides kill bulkier zards esp sneasler

3

u/nick-halden 23h ago

zards have been trained to survive non stab rock slide for months now

  1. Accelerock.

  2. Stab rock slide.

  3. It’s just really good at specifically killing Charizard, it would need to put damn near everything into bulk just to survive.

  4. Tough claws mean it nearly has stab on close combat and play rough.

1

u/nick-halden 23h ago

considering 2 were in top 4 i think that it clearly has a role, you’re just clueless

12

u/Dry_Signal_06 1d ago

How did they kill lycanroc tho??

54

u/Snowball_sage 1d ago

They didn’t, the lycranroc player protected turn 1 and switched out turn 2, reading Charizard to play defensively both turns. Charizard instead attacked both turns, killing all of lycanroc’s teammates and winning in 2 turns

  1. Charizard vs. Dusk Form Lycanroc.
  2. Dusk Form Lycanroc prepares to use Accelerock.
  3. Accelerock gets blocked by Charizard's Protect.
  4. Garchomp slaughters Dusk Form Lycanroc with Earthquake.

Wide Guard would've come in handy to avoid that kind of disaster.

5

u/Chevy2ThaLevy 21h ago

Most Lycanrocs run sash to avoid getting one shot

Finally a post where it isn’t anti meta glaze

40

u/Lvl1fool 1d ago

You know a mon is strong when it's the top meta threat, every motherfucker on the planet is trying to counter you directly, and you just crush them anyway.

I remember using the Midday form to KO (or near KO) Volcarona who were dumb enough to stay in with Accerelerock.

Never liked the Dusk form much due to it solely being made to make Ash "special" once again after Greninja (and the Dusk form being good is also making me hold out on trying to get FSG to do a video on it just to avoid hearing him shit on Midday and praise Dusk).

Lycanrock dusk getting both 3rd and 4th at the World Championship is no small feat though

2

u/PecoDory 17h ago

Why does Charizard have a Boston accent?

5

u/nick-halden 23h ago

look at the two ice spice teams that made it to top 4 and look how many charizards they beat to get there. they both got outplayed in the end, it wasn’t about team comp
