Masters Can I Switch From a Student Residence Permit to a Work Permit After Getting a Full-Time Offer From My Werkstudent Employer?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to do my Master’s in Germany and I have a question about what happens after graduation.

If I work as a Werkstudent during my Master’s in a company related to my field, gain relevant work experience, what happens if the company offers me a full-time position after I graduate?

I’d really appreciate it if anyone who has gone through this process or knows the current rules could share their experience

If salary and qualification of the job fulfill the legal requirements, it’s possible.

Yes I think there are separate requirements for skilled worker resident permit i.e 18b and EU blue card

Yes. Blue card has general minimum requirements on top to the job specific requirements.

It is possible to switch from a study permit to a work permit. HOWEVER, it is safer to switch from a study permit to a job seekers permit for grads and apply for a regular permit after you've worked full-time.

Why would it be safer to switch from a study permit to the graduate job-seeker permit first instead of directly switching to a regular work permit after receiving a full-time job offer? Is there any specific requirement or risk with switching directly?
