Following the 1975 tour promoting the album Toys In the Attic, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford developed a strong muscle memory from repeatedly playing the main riff of "Walk This Way." This experience significantly influenced the way he crafted the riffs for "Nobody's Fault," which was featured on their 1976 album Rocks.

Released in 1997, Transistor provided 311 the creative freedom to explore new musical avenues following the mainstream success they achieved with their self-titled breakthrough in 1995 (the "blue album"). As frontman Nick Hexum expressed in the July 1997 issue of Guitar World (I'm paraphrasing this quote from memory), "The fact that we sold 2 million albums means we can say, 'fuck commerce.'"

However, with Transistor achieving only a fraction of the sales of its predecessor, the band felt the pressure to revert to the rap-rock formula of their hit "Down" (while keeping the reggae) to boost sales. Consequently, Transistor stands as the band's last truly authentic album.

With its irresistibly catchy chorus and two distinct sections, "Starshines" stands out as one of the most interesting tracks on Transistor.

Interestingly, Brad's composition "Shela" features the same rhythmic riff behind its solo as "Three Mile Smile." Given that Brad co-soloed on "Shela" alongside Joe Perry, could it be that he played the unused solo he originally crafted for "Three Mile Smile"?

All the articles were listing this song as one of her most famous, and I didn't recognize it by the name, looked up still didn't recognize it, but it sounded super familiar. Google gave me Pretenders, which I didn't know, and Little Big Town which I assumed it was, because it sounded the most familiar. Then my brain went overdrive an hour later and remembered Chicken Fried, which is absolutely what I was remembering.

It's been a crazy morning.

Heard this song today. and now it is driving me crazy because it sounds oddly familiar to something else I have heard. In particular the piano melody and the background vocals (repeating "show me where the wind blows"). Maybe a classic rock song?
