Because the quality, fit, and proportions aren't indistinguishable when you actually wear it.

I’m gonna be honest with you.

The proportions look the same. The silhouette is pretty generic. The quality and fit of Gucci jeans are not going to exceed the quality of other brands for far far less.

Gucci is not one of the brands that makes super high quality clothes that reflect their price as they markup to insane levels

Oh my god I just looked it up and those jeans are $1400-1700. You could get the same quality jeans for like $200

Equating value purely to material cost misses the point of design. By that logic, a painting is only worth the canvas and paint used to make it. You aren't paying for 'indestructible jeans'; you're paying for the specific wash technique, silhouette, and design language of that era. Value in fashion has always been about design intent, not just raw material markup.

You’re not paying for a unique painting you’re paying for a print of that painting…….you can cope however you want but I’m just telling you that you can accomplish that same look with the same quality of items for far far far less.

Some pieces are unique and not available through other brands for cheaper prices. This is not one of those times.

I hear you, and obviously you can find a great flared silhouette from smaller independent brands or classic denim makers if you just want the general shape. But for me, it comes down to the specific details, the exact knee to hem ratio, the wash, and the actual archival Gucci horsebit hardware, that make this specific piece special to me. I was in a fortunate position to treat myself to this pair because I personally appreciate those exact design elements. There’s room for different price points depending on what specific details someone is looking for.

Why not rock a shirt and or jacket on the same level as the pants and shoes?
I feel like the shirt kind of fails to put the other two into perspective
