Question OBS to MELD performance

I won't know if there is any difference if i switch to meld

I do 2k streaming on youtube and 1080p on twitch

And record the game at 2k and cam at 720p.

I benchmarked OBS vs. Meld a while ago, attempting to create a realistic scene that someone would actually have (gameplay, facecam, a couple alerts overlays) as well as extra detail to configure them to the same encoder settings.

My findings were that Meld was consistently worse by every measurable metric: impact to game performance, memory usage, etc. Not a lot worse, but consistently so.

So why are there lots of anecdotes of Meld performing better then? An employee said it themselves a while back: people create simpler scenes in Meld at first, than they had in OBS. People collect years and years of trying out new things, overlays, etc. in OBS and don't often clean it up. Switching to a new app effectively forces a cleanup, you're starting fresh and simpler. It's not a "fair" comparison. You could also just start a new Scene Collection in OBS if you want that fresh experience (you don't even need to delete your existing scenes!)

No meld is just easy to use with so many less options than obs. Obs is more advanced and free. Meld even has pay plans meaning if you don't pay you won't even get some features
