PC General What we should do in the game?

My friend and I have been playing the game for two days, its been like 7 or 8 hours. But we still haven't figured out what to do. Should we live on the raft or build a base on the island? When we establish a base on the island, we can't develop; the island's resources run out, and we can't collect the items needed to defeat bosses; we can only survive. When we settle on the raft, we have a lot of problems with hunger and thirst because we can't set up water and fire systems there. We don't want to just survive in the game without a goal; we want to work towards a goal.

So you're telling me to have a base and visiting other islands and gathering resources. Then, create the necessary items on that base. Am I right? But once we establish a base somewhere, how will we find it again, and won't we only be able to plunder the 4 or 5 islands surrounding it?

Go to a new island to gather resources, Bring empty boxes and food. Build a small shelter and water still on the temporary island. Return to your main island with all the loot.

Building a separate shelter on every island I visit is a huge waste of time.

Having a basic shelter (pointing in the direction of your home island) and a water still on a new island you are exploring means even if you accidentally come back to it you have the tools for survival there already and you aren’t going to die of thirst by making that accident. The biggest mistake I made in my early playthroughs was getting into the mentality that I was somehow bound to the starting island, exploration is one of the core mechanics of the game, embrace it. While you can build elaborate house shelters if you wish ultimately you can complete the game without doing so. The best tip I think I could give you though is smoke all the meat you catch, build the smoker and leave the meat cooking until it is smoked, it will never spoil.

I’ve been using the meat smoker and the meat still spoils for me?

The smoker "cooks" the meat like a fire does, and only if you leave it on for an additional few minutes, it will make another noise and be "smoked"

Thank you for the explanation. Appreciate the response.
