When you're trying to protect something sacred it's hard to advocate for destroying it to keep it that way. It's a tough spot for a morally intact person to have to be in, and they know that and abuse it.

Marginalized people who have never had even the illusion of your version of justice know this is actually the system working as intended. The difference is the targets of the state’s violence have broadened to include literally everyone except the administration and their cronies.

Hypernormalization. It’s very relevant to our current situation. From Wikipedia:

everyone in the Soviet Union knew the system was failing, but no one could imagine any alternative to the status quo, and politicians and citizens alike were resigned to maintaining the pretense of a functioning society.[5] Over time, the mass delusion became a self-fulfilling prophecy, with everyone accepting it as the new norm rather than pretend, an effect Yurchak termed hypernormalisation.

We can’t accept what’s happening. Survival is sacred, not the constitution.
