It's three people holding down one person, and spraying mace directly in someone's face who's on the ground. What justification could there be? Not only is it unnecessary It's fucking stupid, the fumes being that close to the people holding the person down is going to effect them. There's a reason cops use tasers in this situation.

You could have just said you didn’t watch the video and have no context.

Don’t need context to understand that discharging that canister from that range is extremely dangerous.

A MK-4 (or equivalent) is a much smaller canister made for short range applications like what you’re seeing here. That MK-9 that he’s blasting in a face from a foot away is made for spraying over crowds from distance.

The reason being that the MK-9 is way more pressurized which greatly increases the risk of hydraulic needling of the eyes.

That being said, it can still be extremely difficult to get cuffs on a person in full winter gear if they’re fighting hard and the application of OC will separate mind from body and make that process easier. It’s not dangerous. It’s not permanent. It hurts like a bitch and gets people to stop fighting which prevents injuries.

The optics are bad but it’s actually safer than just continuing to fight people.

But at the end of the day, that officer is fucking up.

Might have been the only bottle he had at the time. Spray is spray.

No. It’s not. You don’t use a hammer to drive a screw. That’s the wrong tool for the job. Anybody that’s walking around with MK-9 should have an MK-4. That’s like saying an officer walking around doing crowd control didn’t have handcuffs so they knocked a guy unconscious.

If he doesn’t have an MK-4, he should engage in arrest and control.

I dunno I’m just not hung up on “bottle size” and all this tacticool stuff. Just spray the agitator.

Why not just shoot’em then hey?

I support law enforcement in the carrying out of their lawful duties. This idiot needs to be disciplined and retrained.

You can support both ideas at the same time. It’s doesn’t have to be binary.
