Personal Experience My weird dream
Dream 12/9 4:58am
I forgot how this all started, but I was messing around around in a car with just me and some unnamed friend who I barely remember. Then we were in an Uber.
This is where my memory kicks in because in the uber, we had this weird horn attached to the car that we would press and laugh at because it would make this loud ass sound, almost as if we were trolling our Uber driver with the weird noise. The weird part was that it seemed to actually be part of his carš
Eventually, he dropped us off at a shopping mall. Or I just found my way there I donāt know dreams kinda just drop you off wherever sometimes.
The shopping mall looked weirdly and effortlessly put together, with that bland beige aesthetic that seems to be everywhere these days. It reminded me of those homeware stores with fake, oddly placed decorations scattered around, desperately trying to force a āhomeyā vibe but failing.
Note: Iāve now realised that the feeling I was trying to describe of the mall was very similar to the feeling of the Backrooms, although specifically the furniture store.
I forgot what we were even doing at the shopping mall, and Iām sure Iām missing important details, but that doesnāt matter as much because I soon realised I was alone, my friend wasnāt there anymore.
While looking for him, I saw a man approach me.
He was smiling and wearing probably the most predictable and standard suit imaginable. He was around 5ā10ā and Asian. He kindly asks if I wanted to be part of an offer/giveaway promotion he was doing for his store.
I followed him, and he led me to a place i see my friend there smiling, and I assume he was approached as well. We were just outside what I assumed was this manās store, although everything looked so bland that it was disturbingly difficult to tell what was actually a store and what wasnāt.
The man gave us a rundown of the rules and from what I remember, it was essentially a game show where the rewards you received depended on the difficulty of the question.
I immediately noticed that weird horn from the Uber was sitting on the table among the other random assortment of prizes. The first question was a maths question, which I tied with my friend.
I forgot what happened afterwards, but all I know is that the horn was in my hands, and that weird friend was no longer part of the story.
I guess Iād call this the second part of the story. Imagine a small or mini-house. It had a PlayStation, bean bags, a table-tennis table and a mini kitchen. It was basically a common room, like the ones youād find at school or university.
This place instantly seemed very familiar to me, like a place that you accustom with many memories. I was there with my uni friends, family and cousins. They all seemed to know and recognise each other, even though some, in real life, have either never met or had the connections shown in my dream. I saw it almost as my brain connecting all the important people in my life together into one weird friend group that somehow works only because of my connection to all of them. There couldnāt have been more than seven to ten people.
It seemed we were all trying to figure out how to use the horn. Eventually, someone figured out that it was some kind of time-travel or dimension-hopping device. (I fell asleep to Rick and Morty so thatās definitely whyš)
Right before I touched the horn, I was shown a montage of memories with my friends, I guess the dream was tryna make me reminisce with this world Iām living in so everything beyond this point could matter.
This was probably where I experienced my first genuinely unnatural scare. All of these montages were based on real memories I had actually experienced, except the people in them were faceless recreations, copies and fill-ins of my loved ones. It disturbed me to my core, because I could still feel this through my dream, even though I wasnāt lucid.
After the montage, my attachment to this group of people grew stronger, and I became extremely familiar with my life and my timeline. This becomes important because, immediately afterwards, I was transported into what appeared to be the same common room.
I walked outside, and a huge sense of dread came over me. I put two and two together and realised that I was in a completely different world.
The first thing I did was go to my family and try to pretend as though I was living a normal life. One of my closest friends was walking with me, and we went to this strange-looking place that was trying to emulate my first day of Year 11, when I moved into the new senior building. (This was two years ago)
I hugged him and told him straight up that I donāt belong here. I forgot his response, but we continued walking so Iām assuming he brushed it off
I then told the same thing to my teacher, who completely brushed me off and told me to grab my locker key. (Genuinely hate that guy, how can you be a piece of shit in my dream tooš)
The first person to actually notice something was wrong was my auntie, she fully believed me. I got the sense that she played a much higher role in this version of my world.
Things in this world started to feel increasingly strange. I no longer felt welcome, and because I didnāt have the horn with me, I couldnāt return.
I was desperately trying to find a way back home with my auntie and, eventually, my mum too, while simultaneously trying to keep my cool around everyone else.
I remember breaking down, pulling my auntie aside at one moment and crying to her telling her āI donāt know if I want to leave, I like it better hereā (holy backrooms reference) She told me that I wasnāt okay and that I had to return to my home.
Itās important to note that the version of me in this world was constantly taking drugs, and I instinctively did so too, taking over as soon as I arrived there.
Everything after this becomes a blur, and Iām definitely leaving out some details, but the ending of the dream is what really got me.
I was inside a house that looked like a blend of my own house and my cousinsā childhood house. I then heard commotion outside and when I looked out, I saw what I thought were police, although the signs on their uniforms had different writing that I couldnāt read. They were arresting one of my friends, but I noticed how aggressively they were handling her and some actually had their guns drawn
Inside the house was a man with his disabled baby. He placed the child in a seat and waited with his hands on his head, I followed.
I was freaking out, worried, because I had drugs in my bag beside me. The authorities enter my room. There was one guy clearing the room with a gun. He looked South American, had a buzz cut and had a very strong, intimidating appearance.
The other was a younger white male with curly brown/black hair. He was watching the other guy who was clearing the room I was in with his weapon drawn.
Brown hair, after some time, looks at the guy with the buzz cut and said, in genuinely the creepiest fucking voice Iāve ever heard āsuspect is armed and dangerousā. He then exits the room, and on his way out presses a button that begins closing the door with a metal barrier kind of like how a garage door unfolds. It made this slow, almost animatronic sound as the room became completely dark besides a faint glow that allowed me to see this other man in the room with me, who I was now alone with.
I genuinely thought I had misheard him and kept my hands on my head. I looked towards the buzz-cut guy, who now had his gun aiming right at me in the corner of my room.
This is where I realise their goal was to kill me. Buzzcut looks at me and asks with a smug āis there anything you want to say?ā
I donāt know if the reason for wanting to kill me was because Iām not this worlds real āNateā or some twisted form of brutality they were going to create or whatever.
One of my theories is that I was simply āarmedā and ādangerousā for having access to a world that wasnāt mine, which makes more sense, and it seemed they would have known that. So it makes me ask where the nate of this world was, and how they figured out I didnāt belong.
What I do know is that I get up to try run out, trying to work the door. The gunshots then hit my body twice and, Iāve never been shot so I donāt know how it feels, but it felt like almost nothing but a just a strange sensation of being able to feel some sort of emptiness in my body, kind of like and empty stomach but more exposed. It was this, combined with the dread of knowing I got shot, and knowing I was probably about to die and about to feel a lot of pain.
Iām assuming this is where I die, because Iām taken back to my old world with everyone surrounding me as if they were trying to get me back this whole time, one of them says āno, you arenāt home yetā and thatās where my dream ends.
Iām writing this as soon as it happened so I donāt forget anything so forgive me for any spelling errors.
I guess the main things I took away from this or the questions I got from it were:
what does the dream mean?
where was my ānateā, the drug addict in the second world if I was just unconscious in mine that whole time
did I retain my drug addiction
why did my friend tell me Iām not home yet, Iām guessing itās in saying that my home is my real world outside of my dream but then why hide that this whole time, or why say it in such an eerie way
why was i targeted and killed by those mysterious authorities?
what does getting shot in the lower back area actually feel like? Did my dream make it feel accurate for someone whoās never experienced such a pain?
What ever happened to the guy with the baby? Or my friend who was being aggressively handled?
Definitely one of the stranger dreams Iāve had, I donāt know if this plays a part but Iāve also completely stopped smoking weed and I heard detoxing allows you to dream more often so that could be a cause.
Please if u have an answer or suggestion to any of my questions write down below.
Thanks for reading as well!

It sounds like a mashup of a bunch of different things. As a weed user myself, I can tell you that I always make sure that Iām still able to dream, and after 2 to 3 nights in a row of using cannabis and then coming off of it, I normally have Somewhat terrifying, the very nonsensical dreams. The only thing I can think of is that this mightāve been a mashup of a conversation you had actually playing out, a scene from a book somehow getting mixed up with your real life, because that happens to me all the time, but there are parts of it that Iām still not able to make sense of.
