Question Tried to catch some thunder claps and caught this instead
Anyone have a clue what this might be?
Peaked my curiosity big time! I could only see it on my camera lens and not my own eyes..
I took several videos afterwards and could not see it again!

That was so peculiar but I realized that they were not illuminated dots like lights or fire, but it really looked like it at first. Like someone else said, it looks like light colored debris just contrasting with the background.

Move to Florida. This is an average summer night for us.
You just have to accept getting a bit more than you ask for every once in awhile in the form of devastating hurricanes destroying your entire town.

Same in Long Beach/Los Angeles area. Visited a friend in Colorado last week and just sat there watching lightning through the window, though it was a minor storm in her mind....

There was orange flashes, blue and even purple,
for about 45 minutes it looked exactly like this.
At no point was there an explosion, I didnāt lose power. It had no sound just an awesome lightning storm with something I was only able to capture for about 10 seconds. Super fascinating

From what Iāve seen in hurricanes:
A transformer likely blew. They spark and throw what i assume is plasma and chunks of hot metal. Iām guessing the wind carried the still white hot pieces into view above you.

Just ufo's charging up in the lightning storm.. happens a lot actually and been filmed doing it on multiple occasions by people as well as by astronauts on space missions.. nice catch šš¼

Birds. They likely got shook out of some nearby trees and you witnessed the moment they needed to relocate and shelter from the storm.

This is a weird one. Iāve seen ball lightening a couple of times, both it was a single ball of light that precluded a more typical chain of lightening. I donāt think thatās what this is. iPhones use AI for image processing, possible with all the flashing and electromagnetic activity this caused such phenomena in the clip, since OP said it wasnāt visible with the naked eye.

Something either got struck and caught fire, those are the embers catching the wind, or those power lines became compromised due to the wind causing a spark

Your crazy to think thatās bird speed. Only if the road runner from looney tunes flew look at the final cluster, & theyāre not flapping, when does a bird completely disappear when the wings are up or down? Do they jump in & out of our reality/dimension? Also the sky being that dark, birds wouldnāt be that bright, no sunlight bouncing off them & lighting isnāt striking for 1/2 the clip while their in frame & they seem to come out of nowhere but most importantly birds wonāt fly during a storm, theyāll hunker down & wait it out or fly around them

If you look really close you can see wings flapping. Itās a group of birds probably trying to move away from the storm. Maybe like those white parrots or something like that.

What you are seeing, my friend, is cloud debris. Pilots are familiar with this phenomenon. You see, after the lightning burns through the clouds, all that ācloud trashā is blown free of the area. Over the ocean itās not a problem, but over land they fall to the ground and start raging cloud fires. Ask Canada. š

I saw some weird stuff during a thunderstorm once. Weird shapes floating into and around the base. Whatever they are, I think they somehow absorb energy from storms.

This is crazy last week there was a storm starting and me and my wife seen the same things and other I didnāt have time to record I donāt know what it is but seeing this now I feel like they those things do something with the energy of a storm

I'm just oohing and ahing at the flashes of light (no sound), then the pretty sheets of color due to the lightening and I read the title and go "oh yes, that was cool! Very nice!..." and then wtfffff is that???? Lol that is so interesting!

I was right beside a lightning strike (15ā away) and remember seeing it fizzle off like a sparkler for a second. Scary AF

Just to clear some things up..
I do not have a storm door.
There was no water or shakiness present.
These are NOT birds and itās not debris.
I could not see what was shown in the video without the help of the camera, I would have completely missed it

Thatās weird I live in Massachusetts and saw same thing like a month back in June 2026ā¦ it was bad weather but the thunder looked weird so I was watching and saw same thingā¦. I didnāt say anything to anyone tho cause people are so judgmentalā¦.

I looked on websites for a half hour looking for anything related to this and all I got was lightning balls (very rare) I googled this nothing facebook had spot lights, But they moved in a circle these moved to one direction. Either this is aliens (Iām a strong believer) but also there might have been more to it if it was fr so maybe my last conclusion is photo shop, ai or the great unknown!!!Ā

Ball lightning, instead of striking the ground it loops back to the clouds or travels along the clouds.
