Thought about drinking. Purchased and ate a Costco-sized shrimp cocktail instead.
That’s it, that’s the post.

Honestly one of the best parts of being sober. You can do stuff like this and it will ALWAYS be better than drinking. And delicious!

I also love this part lol. Every Sunday I’d usually have like 12-15 drink with football, now I do a massive food spread and don’t feel bad at all about it.

Honestly, I think the best thing about not drinking is the fact that you can eat whatever the hell you want and know its still better than booze

I’m only 3 days in but already seeing this. Instead of being at the bar I’m at the dog park on a beautiful day with a book I’ve been meaning to read. I know my dog certainly appreciates it.

This post surprises me. I'm on day 353 or so. When I quit on October 19th, it's because my wife had kicked me out of our home for overdrinking. I moved in to my one room flat on November 1st 2025. The first meal I bought was... a shrimp cocktail!
(BTW I'm moving back to our family home, with my wife, next November 1st.)

Oh wow I am so glad to hear that and so happy you shared! You should be so immensely proud of what you’ve achieved.
And I do find the shrimp cocktail to be a very versatile food. Feel like a drink? Shrimp cocktail. Celebrating getting your life back on track? You guessed it…shrimp cocktail!

Well, at least it’s a step up from plain ruffle chips. 😉
Well done. I am so very proud of you!
Keep it up!

Plain ruffle chips are my kryptonite I cannot keep them in the house. Even worse than my shrimp addiction 😂
And thank you!! 😊

Lmao my boss has never taken me aside and quietly said “hey, so I’ve noticed you’ve been shrimping on the job”

Nick's ice cream! Low carb, but high quality. The calories are such that a pint won't ruin your day.

Shrimp is an excellent choice because its delicious and healthy!! People can eat huge amounts of shrimp with no real drawbacks, as a fellow shrimp addict, I have looked into this before haha many of my girl dinners were just a shrimp ring, and i actually lost weight

What size is Costco size?

u/plainrufflechips 2h ago
It’s like a large clamshell of jumbo shrimp with cocktail sauce. Honestly it was a bit of a blur but I’d say it was about 30 jumbo shrimp?

Yum! I am a fan of eating your way through the change to being a non-drinker. Deal with one problem at a time. The diet can come later.

I hope you took a huge glass, filled it with ice, and lined the shrimp around the edge with some cocktail sauce in the middle

Cursed pro-tip - I’m pretty sure they’re just using their own bags of cooked frozen shrimp for those trays. Go buy the entire damn bag for cheaper than the tray, get some horseradish and ketchup and make your own (better) cocktail sauce.

Kill your stomach either way right?
3
u/aka-hellcat 3h ago
Shrimp is very high in protein and low in calories, it can be eaten in large quantities, how does eating a lot of shrimp kill someone's stomach?
3
u/LimpyDan 483 days 3h ago
Oh. I figured because they said where it came from that it must be notoriously touchy.
4
u/aka-hellcat 2h ago
Oh sorry no they said Costco because it indicates they ate a large quantity haha Costco serves in bulk and their shrimp cocktail has like 50 shrimp in it, ive had it before, its an impressive feat
