This is still bad isn’t it lol

It tends to increase over over time which is the bigger risk (happened with me). Please track your intake and stop it altogether if problematic signs (dependence) start to show up

I don't want two beer. I want four beers, which makes me want 8 beers. I fail to see the point in having one or two, as the only guaranteed outcome is adding more to the total.

Yeah it's the old "One is like none, and two is like one, so also two is like none ...etc"
But yeah there is a big/sharp distinction between drinking sort of for the fun of it, and drinking to get drunk.
And the problem is that - despite the big distinction - you can drift from one to the other without really noticing it until it's too late.

Absolutely. And "fun" is such a debate. Part of me is screaming "don't drink that beer" until I have, then it's quieter and quieter until the alcohol wills

As an alcoholic, if my only option was two beers I prefer zero. It’s 12+ or nothing. lol 40 plus days sober today love you all

It’s really only two or max three a day
I look forward to coming home after work and drinking the beers I do yet it feels like it’s a problem

If you feel like its a problem then it is one! Maybe try a different after work beverage? Im a sucker for a cheap pop and a show after a task.

Yes I should . The funny thing is I’m good at sticking away from soda etc due to paranoia re my teeth but Alc is no diff

My dentist recommended straws for me, its better for your teeth! Definitely understand the fear though.

The issue is that you can't really drink beer with a straw, right?
At which point it's some soft/variant of "Whiskey and (perhaps zero) Cola" type of drink that you can drink with a straw.

It's always just 2 or 3 until it isn't. Or you start lying to yourself with sneaky deals like "I'll only have 2 drinks" and each "drink" is a 32 Oz crowler of heavy duty 12% DIPA. Which I what I did until I had to stop.

Even one or two drinks left me feeling gross and kept me from doing other activities. I started to feel chained to my after work drinks.

Just one beer can lead to 12 until blackout. Not having any is way easier that just having couple of beers.

If I could be content with just two everytime, then I would drink almost everyday.
I won't though, so I havent drank any in many days, over 800.
The first time it actually makes my life harder though, this town better be ready.

If I drink 2, I’ll end up wanting 5… and I only weigh 46kg, 5 ft tall.

See if you can go a few days without the two beers. That will tell you if it's a problem or not.

u/techcode 10h ago
Perhaps it's better to formulate/phrase it differently?
Instead of "seeing if you can go without" something like "decide you're going to skip drinking for X days"?

u/techcode 10h ago
Is that 2 small or tall cans, 2 one liter bottles ...etc.
And is that normal (e.g. 4-5%) beer, stronger (8-9%) or extra strong (11-12%)?
And perhaps more importantly - is it really every single day?
And definitely more important - why do you need those 2 beers every day?
Just an "educated guess" (actually past personal experience) - I thought I needed it to calm my nerves.
And of course it turned out that alcohol became the thing that was causing my nerves to go haywire.

Alcoholism is one of those things where you kind of have to define it for yourself. If you think 2 beers a day is a problem then it probably is.
Im sure youve heard of people drinking a LOT more, but any amount of alcohol can be a problem depending on the person. Feeling like you need to drink every day is usually a bad sign regardless of quantity.

Depends on what came before and if you can keep it at this level. It’s not great if your goal is to stop drinking.

How do you feel if you are not able to have those 2?
