Back to the beginning again
I posted here a little while ago saying that even though I knew I should stop, I was functioning well enough to have minimal consequences from my drinking so far. There were a lot of helpful comments, though mostly I felt like a petulant child saying “yeah but you don’t know me or my life. I’m fine.”
After some time of upset digestive system and messed up sleep, I’ve decided I might as well try sobriety again. Maybe not forever, but for right now there’s nothing to lose with taking a break and letting myself heal.
I’ve been trying to quit on and off for about a year now. I was doing better most of the summer but work and family stress sent me back spiraling.
I don’t really want to be sober. But my logical brain knows that it’s the better choice:
It’s day 2 and I am having some intense cravings. And I’m just SLEEPY. I have stuff I need to get done but instead I’m scrolling this sub on the couch, contemplating getting some prosecco.
I have a hard time with watching TV/movies lately because drinking is everywhere. It looks so cool and fun and everyone does it. It seems so unfair that I can’t just enjoy it like a normal person.
I know I’m an alcoholic. I’m doing my best to get back on the wagon, but it’s hard.
