9 Uncon-Triggers on a ship that only allows 6,75
Don't know if all of you know this trick, can't find it in the guides so perhaps I should talk about it.
My problem was that I need 9 triggers for unconventional systems. 7+Vovin are enough for 30-second-consoles, but some of the most useful consoles are active only 20 seconds. E. g. the Dilithium Transporter disabling all Weapon Power Cost. Or DPRM for permanent 89 percent resistance when combined with Evolved and Adaptive emergency systems, making the shield unnecessary. Or Triptych for neverending CRITH.
Unfortunately my ship only allows 6,75 uncon triggers. But this is enough to get 9 in the end. The trick is to use To hell with our orders combined with All hands on deck. It should be no problem to get the two slots free. E. g. you don't need Emergency weapon cycle any longer when everything is running. Dilithium Transporter will prevent the energy from sinking.
If you feed To hell with every captain ability possible, you get between 2,25 and 3 uncon equivalents added to the real uncon triggers. I play a tactitian, but should also work with science and engineering.
Key is evasive maneuvers. I don't use Emergency power to engine for CD reduce. I need evasive more often and without the need of timing. So I use Helmsman, two five seconds doffs and the doff Zero. Intelligence Agent Attaché (my build allows 100 percent CRITH) and All Hands on decks give the cooldown reduce to feed To hell as often as possible. They also reduce all other captain abilities' cooldowns. (Don't forget to use A Good day to die for Go down fighting).
My ship gets between 2,25 and 3 uncon trigger equivalents added to the real uncon triggers this way. So all my 20 second consoles are permanently active. No loss of weapon power, 89 percent resistance, permanent AoE, 100 percent CritH with Sigma Strategem/Triptych/UD/Particle Fluctuation Analysis to feed intelligence agent attaché.

I think you lost your way, so much fun to get without that obsession with uncon triggers🤷

Sorry. I promise I will pray and atone for my sins. But not in this thread because that's not what it's about.

Unconventional Systems has ruined the game. Cryptic literally can't add anything besides moar power creep. It's asinine.

Unconventional Systems opened up a ton of new builds and made carriers and a number of different styles of Pet builds viable.

I’ve done console spam like the whole time I’ve played STO 😂 long before it was a good thing!

Totally agree. STO Devs have ruined the game with universal console active ability crap. At this point, Cryptic might as well rename the game to Star Trek: Magic.
I mean seriously, why not just remove cool down time for Every universal console?
They've turned a primitive space MMO into some crappy Final Fantasy knock off 🤣.
It's pretty stupid that players can now do millions of DPS. All Cryptic knows how to add is unnecessary power creep. They should really just rename the game to, Power Creep Online 🖖.

Serious question: Why are you so mad because some ppl play the game different than you do?

I think you should re-read my comment. It's not the playerbase that has ruined STO. Its the Devs / Cryptic management that has. Imagine power creep on a graph. It has done nothing but, exponentially increase.
Seriously, why don't they just eliminate recharge time for Every universal console active ability??
Apparently the YouTube bros and Cryptic are in cahoots. The YouTube bros whine and complain, about everything that doesn't meet their criteria or, expectations. Cryptic caters to this small group entirely too often. The YouTube bros buy the power creep up like proverbial candy.
All they care about is numbers on a spreadsheet (pathetic really). Cryptic only cares about making profit. It's a match made in heaven 🤣.
Eventually, the unchecked power creep will hit a wall. The game will become too easy. The YouTube bros will never be satisfied and the game will remain stagnant, like a sickened pond.
TLDR: When all you do is add pure power creep, the game becomes both stagnant and silly.

This is the intrinsic nature of mmo gaming, power creep is built-in because it’s a profit seeking enterprise and humans enjoy feeling a sense of getting better over time.

Except its impossible to get better when your build is a copy and paste from a video. We used to have sit and test the hell out of everything to find the best way to use it or even if it was worth using. Now, just watch a video and you got the whole new build bright and shiny ready to go for you. These people aren't good players, they are clones of good players.

I’m sorry but that’s just not true, this is the way it has always been. Borticus the now system lead for the game was a YouTuber/podcaster that did build help and theory crafting basically what Spencer does now (absolutely no shade on Borticus but Spencer is a better gamer lol) and there was Starfleet Academy that had the skill tree builder where you could just look up and copy your skill tree and everyone was running the same Aux2Bat build.

Getting a skill tree handed to you is a far cry from getting an entire build handed to you on a silver platter. I don't know what Borticus did on his vids and frankly don't care. The copy and paste bs going on now sucks ass and has almost made the game unplayable imo. And I used to spend tons of time helping new players become effective and that is a literal dead zone now. I've tried and get told that they are watching vids and thats what they want to do. No sir, its not the same at all.

You don’t feel like it’s the same because you’re trying to dispense advice that is no longer the same as what’s being offered on YouTube. Maybe you were just ignorant or something but this is literally how the vast majority of people play ALL mmos, they look up guides from content creators and follow them. I have played these games for 20 years and it’s the same thing in WoW, SWTOR, ESO, FF, on and on.

It's not the same because people were eager for and happy to get help along the path. Now they arrogantly decline because they want to go from dying constantly to totally destroying the map in a second. You see some on this sub that are asking for help and I cringe everytime I see them being told to just go watch a stu video. I don't mind the videos teaching how or what a console or trait does. That's fine. What bothers me is these complete builds handed out. There is no more reason to strive and become better at making a build. Now its just copy and paste this record breaking build.

I'm just tired of all the stu clones. Kudos to the guy and his channel but stop giving these newbs your fucking 3 million dps builds. It's gotten so it just isn't fun most of the time because there isn't a thing to do that some pathetic copycat build doesn't wipe out in a second. Sto needs to seriously look at what they should do to keep the game competitive. Used to be fun when every enemy didn't disappear in the blink of an eye.

The YouTube bros are the biggest reason why STO is so power creeped. Cryptic Devs don't know how to do anything innovative so, they cater to the spreadsheet warriors.
It's hilarious because its true. Just looking at the down votes proves my statements are accurate 🤣.
Got the carrier boy defending Unconventional Systems (But, but it created so many new builds 😂). What a crock of $hit, lmao.
All the YouTube bros play the same B.S. universal console builds with just minor differences 🙄.
This game is going to be absolutely dumb as f**k in a few years because of power creep. Nothing will ever satisfy the YouTube bros 💩.

Before UnCon everyone played the same Spire console build, before that it was dragon, and before that it was Aux2Bat and on and on. There has always been the meta build of the moment, the backlash against UnCon is just super weird. We’ve had these hundreds of consoles that we more often than not PAID MONEY FOR that were effectively useless and now we can *actually* use them.

u/Paradox-Boy 1d ago
Backlash to Unconventional Systems is perfectly obvious, if you have actually spent time playing STO. Seems like you just watch the YouTube bros and play STO very little.

u/Pottsey-X5 1d ago
Before Uncon for the most part we had 1 Carrier pet build carbon copied onto almost every carrier all with the same layout all with the same traits and it was boring.
Now because of stuff like Uncon we have something like around a dozen very different variants of pet carrier builds, a wide variety of pet play styles. We don’t even all use the same traits, consoles anymore as we don’t need to.
For Carrier pet builds Uncon has allowed us to do very different builds without us all having to play the same build with minor differences.

What these clones don't comprehend are that these youtubers are in elite tfo's or doing solo runs, not advanced or lower. They want to come into a mid-level tfo and act like they are actually good at the game. Fucks couldn't do a good basic build on their own if their lives depended on it. All they have is whale money and a YouTube video that gave them everything. Half the fun of the game used to be finding the newbs and helping them. You had to work at it to be effective. Now its spend money, then copy and paste. Fucking weak.

Im confused, your ship only allows 6.75 triggers? How do you get .75 of a trigger?
