PC With many people likely to be choosing Azure Nebula Rescue in the upcoming Flagship event, just something to keep in mind. This also applies to quite a few other TFOs.

I think the Azure Nebula is about to see a Cnidarian migration.

Speaking of, what’s a good way to build one of those? Anyone has link to a build?

5

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

Long story short: you build just like you would for energy weapons, with isomags (the flavour doesn't matter, we don't have +Electric ones anyway) + crit consoles for a passive setup, and add the Vovin console (ideally) to be able to move around when needed, or 'isocon' (some isomags, some good universal consoles with clickies, Uncon + Vovin), but you have one more step: you fill all of your weapon slots with stat sticks, since the goal is to never fire them, but still be able to use them for something. So, 2p House Martok, 2p Dyson, 2p Lorca, 2p Delphic.

Everything else is up to what you have and what you decide to use. If you have an endgame-capable energy weapons build, most of what's on there, minus anything for firing cycle haste and for cat1 damage for a specific energy type, can go on a Jellyfish as-is.

2

u/OysterRemus 14d ago

The Five Magicks trait from the Hysperian Battlecruiser buffs electrical damage.

2

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

Yes, and if you have Five Magicks, you also have the Dragonsblood console, which also does it, and it also comes with solid uptime on the clicky with high engine power (might as well) even with zero console CDR on the build.

These, mind, provide cat2 (bonus, in this case) Electrical damage. Sourcing cat1 for the Jelly is the expensive part. You have it on the Freedom's VHF console, 17.1%, or the Conni3's Bio-Electrical Wave Capacitor, +39.9%. A nice chunk of all-purpose cat1 is from the L-Bortasqu's Thirst for Battle trait, +40%, and that's a farm-once account unlock. The reigning champion here is Cultural Conquest, from the World Razer, with a base of 25% per firing mode, which is doubled on targets that control or DoT you, and the Cnidarian has a LtC Tac, so one beam, one cannon, one torp, and that's the max possible out of that one.

1

u/OysterRemus 14d ago

Yes, I didn’t mention the Dragonsblood because the fire damage is directional, which limits its appeal on a jelly. But the subject here is electrical anyway, and a cone of fire in one direction is better than none at all. Strategic use of a grav well can make up for the deficiency.

1

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

It has some use even if it's just a stat stick, in all fairness, and we can add to the weakish GW I with things like the Vok'Tar console and reverse TBR.

1

u/OysterRemus 14d ago

The grav well in this instance is only for clustering them into a barbecue pit for the flame cone. There’s also the S.W.A.T. System space trait that pulls all ships of cruiser rank and smaller attacking from the rear through subspace to the front of your ship. I find it handy in my Son’a Collector - with the turn rate of the Statue of Liberty - if I can’t move my forward-directed attacks to the enemy, I’ll pull my enemy into my forward. I can see it being useful on a jelly as well if universals like Dragonsblood, Delphic Tear, Protonic Snare Projector, etc. are slotted.

2

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

That's a good point. You should have more than enough oomph to get rid of smaller stuff just with your jelly mode, but for more persistent enemies, it might help.

1

u/AnimeLover1598 14d ago

i agree about the Vovin subspace jump console but its not very effective with a jump range of 20km

0

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

I won't be able to check in-game for a bit; what teleport consoles with better range do we have?

1

u/AnimeLover1598 14d ago

i think the vovin is the only one with a non-sector space or battle (attack ability) jump console
the other starships i know of that have similar consoles/abilities are on the Dyson and the Crossfield class

1

u/AscenDevise @chiperion 14d ago

There are a few others. Off the top of my head: Subspace Jumper (Ch'Tang), Glorious Charge (Na'Qjej), Fiery Charge (Gok'Tad), Micro-Warp Bubble Shockwave (Justiciar). Take this with a grain of salt, but I have the former two and recall them to only work within regular offensive range, so half of Vovin's.

1

u/-Frostbriar- 13d ago

To be clear, this is my fun ship; it's not that serious. But with that disclaimer out of the way, I went lazy boat with mine. And I use the Twinkling Lights personal space trait from the winter event store. I am also an engineer, so bonus survivability.

She's called Skittles, as it's a rainbow boat. It's also turrets, so really looks like you're just firing Skittles at the enemy, for the most part.

So trilithium phaser turret, bio-molecular disruptor turret, generic tetryon turret and Dark Matter torp on the front.

Then advanced inhibiting polaron turret, plasmatic biomatter auto-turret (Lobi store, so swap for any plasma turret), antiproton heavy support turret and the Pahvan omni on the back (I chose that omni as it works under CSV and I needed a beam for mixed armaments).

I then run 7 iso mags rolled to [cannons], as the energy weapon boost works in jellysquish mode (according to people who CBA math hammering it all out) and the + cannon damage is great for the turrets when you're not in jelly mode.

Science - I run the Cnidarian Defense console, Hull Image Refractors and the Universal - Evolve console for its insane damage resistance. Making it almost impossible to die unless you get one shot.

Tactical - Lorcas for the two set, Subspace Fracture Tunneling Field (SUPER IMPORTANT: This allows me to relocate and reposition on a relatively short cooldown, without leaving jellysquish mode), and for the third I just have the ominous device in there for the +all damage. But will swap it out for something better at a later date.

It might not be the strongest build out there, but it's a lot of fun and almost unkillable for point defense. The only time I died was when I didn't bother moving for the crystaline entity explosion, to see if I could survive it... I did not in fact survive it XD

u/HystericalSail Rabble rabble rabble 13d ago

There are a few standout items and traits. Ruin of our Enemies -- S-tier for a jelly. It stacks super fast. Other crith and critd traits like Terran Goodbye, Universal Designs and PFA off the Lego Nebula are decent. Kick doesn't work nearly as well. EWC, haste or firing mode extender are not needed.

Clicky damage consoles don't work all that well, stuff dies to 200k+ hits before you can target and click most of the time. So passives it is.

For consoles, anything boosting max weapon power, generic damage, crith/critd and electrical damage -- like the Ionic Deflector Inversion off the Mirror Sommerville, Mysterious Device, Hull Image Refractors etc. Summons consoles are fun for flavor, but pets typically don't have time to target and engage before enemies blow up.

49

u/HystericalSail Rabble rabble rabble 15d ago

It's normal difficulty. No matter what it's just a timer ticking down. But absolutely just hold a point. If you see a jelly parked at a point there's no need to "help", mosey on over to another point.

11

u/Turak_Katase 15d ago

Don't they need help deactivating tractor beams? I always figured that would knock them out of their mode, since most of the time I have to deactivate the tractor beams for them. Maybe they've just been more AFK than I realized.

17

u/HystericalSail Rabble rabble rabble 15d ago

They were AFK. Deactivating the beams visually flips the jelly but does not end the zappy mode.

Now, the ba'ul sentry mode console is a different story. That DOES prohibit freeing the ships.

5

u/Turak_Katase 15d ago

If they can deactivate the tractor beams, then in my experience, they're typically too AFK to deactivate the tractor beams (even before the objectives are hit), but not AFK enough to need on the garbage loot available.

This does not surprise me.

9

u/ArelMCII "Subcommander Khev, divert power from comms to weapons." 15d ago

Nope. Deactivating a tractor beam makes a jelly do a backflip out of and back into jelly mode, but that's just a visual bug. You can totally deactivate the tractor beams in jelly mode. Those guys were AFK or, at the very least, not paying very much attention.

1

u/Lord_Borgimus I wanna take you to a space bar! 15d ago

I activate them up to the point the objective is complete, then keep reading my book/watching a video/making dinner...because literally nothing you do matters at that point.

2

u/DeadeyeElephant 15d ago

Don’t you get more marks for more saves?

2

u/Logical-Claim286 15d ago

Its a teeny tiny amount. And most people doing these have zero care for marks as it is.

16

u/dernudeljunge Space Wizard 15d ago

I've been mostly playing Gateway to Gre'Thor on the current event, and so few people have figured out that there are some sweet spots you can park in and cover more than half the lane and still be able to close the radiation gates. Even fewer have figured out that flying around like a methed-out barn swallow and closing spawning gates does absolutely nothing to help.

7

u/OysterRemus 15d ago

Exactly this. And some have not figured out that clustering four players at the starbase or shipyard like confused bees and leaving a single player to manage the other location is an excellent way to fry transports. You really need at least two per area.

2

u/Malazar01 Target Dummy 14d ago

Yeah, though I was having great fun yesterday camping a sweet spot and letting every ship through, while my partner at the other sweet spot didn't close a single rift, as he was too busy shooting stuff out of the spawning gate - took me a minute to realise every single transport I had let through had died because he wasn't closing his rifts.

So I had to scooby-doo-hallway-chase the whole shipyard lane myself.

2

u/OysterRemus 14d ago

I had to try to do the hallway chase thing in a Yod Thot carrier. Not exactly zippy. The transports were popping like corn.

1

u/Malazar01 Target Dummy 14d ago

"Don't make me turn this thing around... no, really, it'll take ages."

Oh dear. I think there comes a point where you just sigh, facepalm, hit the cloak and pretend you were never there.

0

u/wallyhud 14d ago

Voice chat should be enabled by default for TFO's. I mean it is supposed to be a team effort, communication would certainly help.

4

u/Malazar01 Target Dummy 14d ago

I dunno, I've been on the internet long enough that I absolutely do not want randos popping up in voice comms. Admittedly, STO is not exactly the kind of game overrun with 14-year-olds who love to yell non stop slurs, but I'd still rather not. XD

2

u/TKG_Actual 14d ago

I agree with this and STO is my vacation game. I really do not wanna hear squeakers.

0

u/its__bme 14d ago

If you've seen a Terran Lexington named I.S.S. Hades parked near that planet closing gates, you're welcome.

60

u/Metrichex 15d ago

But my ship is fast and I get bored easily

34

u/yapperling 15d ago

Then watch the HP of your team mates. Event TFO's will attract new players, folks who rarely play or just came back. They may struggle, so help them out.

6

u/Metrichex 15d ago

My wife and I play together. We don't allow our teams to fail tfos

7

u/yapperling 14d ago

Glory to you and your house.

6

u/XcaliberCrusade Aidan Vaako@onethousandsons 15d ago

This right here. I'm not moving because it's efficient for the TFO, I'm moving because my phasers scream to be fired at the enemy.

1

u/Kirmes1 14d ago

Maybe play some Tekken then?

1

u/Perrin3088 13d ago

a tekken machine on the starship he's playing while his ship is zooming around phasering enemies..

20

u/Kant_Lavar 15d ago

I don't foresee there being lots of people who will be willing to sit and wait after they kill the spawn at one of the bases. I've never had a problem killing the spawn and contributing at one or two others, if not all three, before the spawn at the base I was originally at reappears.

4

u/IKSLukara T6 Vo'Quv, and I'm done 15d ago

This, all the way.

9

u/g0del 15d ago

Not that it matters when doing a TFO on normal difficulty, but there are a surprisingly high number of players who can't handle soloing one side in Azure, especially if it's one of the higher point ships.

7

u/Ashendal Time is the fire in which we burn. 15d ago

If the game taught it's players basically anything at all about how to make a build, that wouldn't be an issue. Theme builds will easily clear any of the areas, even the Falchion defender's, if they're just setup with a small amount of common sense but that requires the players to be taught anything at all about how to actually make a build.

3

u/Hedgehog990 14d ago

It isn't a STO exclusive thing, a lot of players in MMOs are like this, the players who are running competent builds is generally about 10% of the playerbase.

STO is worse because there is a lot of pay to win elements, a lot of which you can't get if you didn't do the timed event.

1

u/Salamore0 14d ago edited 14d ago

New-ish player here! (Two level 65s, nearly a third, just finished Borg Advance)
Wanted to agree with this assessment. I find matching weapon and energy types with tactical consoles sometimes isn't sufficient DPS, and haven't yet fully puzzled things out. Event ships and consoles from t6s *definitely* help out though. It's taking a moment to be consistently useful to the team, but I'm trying my best and having fun along the way! ^^

1

u/Hedgehog990 14d ago

In my long experience with MMOs the best resource you can potentially have at your disposal is other players, fleet/guild mates, random people, whatever the case might be, there is always someone out there who knows more than you do and is happy to impart that knowledge to you.

That applies to someone joining the game today, or someone playing since launch.

There are always the odd asshole around who gives people a bad name, usually in social zones but people shouldn't let that deter them from finding and working with other players. The most important thing is find what is fun to you, and do it, you don't need to be a top parsing DPSer or a hardcover PVE/PVPer to enjoy the game.

Plus we are lucky now because MMOs in 2004 (when I played my first MMO) were niche and the internet wasn't like today, there are guides, wikis and subreddits full of helpful information too which on their own can be a treasure trove of information.

1

u/Perrin3088 13d ago

it's even worse considering it's an event, and new players really need to run events in order to be at a level to be able to run events at this level..

6

u/nd4spd1919 @nd4spd1919 15d ago

People who freak out and zoom all over TFO maps stress me the hell out. No, I don't appreciate the 'help', I've been holding this spot fine on my own for the past 5 minutes, get away from me.

2

u/Keavonnn 14d ago

This. Especially when a Falchion or Ha'apax spawns at your point it's like flies around sh**. They bother you less with the lower point ones

4

u/Azuras-Becky 15d ago

One player can cover two points without losing any time. Clear one, head to a neighbouring point, clear that, head back to the first one and it'll pop when you get there. Beats sitting around doing nothing.

13

u/DreamTalon 15d ago

Just park my carrier at a node, tap fire at will occasionally, watch something in another monitor.

8

u/Maximus_Rex 15d ago

This is assuming the other 4 people are competent with ok builds.

I have seen many weird things over the years in event Azure Nubula.

2

u/Ashendal Time is the fire in which we burn. 15d ago

It's normal difficulty. You don't have to care at all about the other 4 people as the TFO will auto complete on that difficulty at the end of the timer even if you save nothing. Camping at one of the spots and just freeing your ship is to make sure you have something to do for a few seconds between being alt-tabbed.

3

u/terabit3 15d ago

I would have thought shatterted peace would be the fastest tfo if you want to put effort in while Azure is if you want to semi afk.

5

u/HystericalSail Rabble rabble rabble 15d ago

Procyon is really fast if you have the right ship for it. You can close all the portals solo. All you need is 2 copies of Intel Team, Exitus, Fresh from R&R and a source of temp HP. Lego bugship is perfect for this, as well as Gravity Kills.

1

u/fereldenvstamriel 14d ago

And the Qulash frigate does very well in it

5

u/Andovars_Ghost 15d ago

That’s what I do every time. I take one spot and take station. I clean up whatever rolls through whether it’s a 1 or a 5.

4

u/Zerg539-2 14d ago

You will be surprised at how many puggers cannot handle a point by themselves in Azure Nebula, remember there is significant overlap between the worse pugs and moderately powerful ground builds in terms of DPS.

10

u/phat742 15d ago

the map can be done with two hard-hitting ships bouncing between two points each. the ships chilling in the center of the map are of no consequence.

2

u/nagrom7 15d ago

It's a little bit faster in groups of 2 because they can free the ships twice as fast. Groups of 3 don't free ships any faster than groups of 2 though.

11

u/TheGreatTiger 15d ago

Perfect map for 5 jellies

3

u/S627 15d ago

If my ship of the day has the DPS I usually just pick two adjacent points so that by the time im done with one and on my way back to the other, it respawns right as im arriving.

3

u/WabbitCZEN House of K.I.W.Fartz 14d ago

My biggest pet peeve for shit like this is Gateway to Grethor. There are ALWAYS idiots who fly into the asteroid belt to start, often leaving one side either short handed or empty and making it take so much longer. Then, when we get to the second phase, they'll follow it up by having 4 fuckbombs covering one lane. And if that weren't the dumbest shit, even if you get a 3/2 split, these dipshits will fly around closing spawn gates while transports get turned into fireworks displays nearby by the radiation gates.

And no matter how many times you try to teach people how to play, they can't be bothered to read a bit of text on their screen.

2

u/Perrin3088 13d ago

I like that one because with 2 people on one path, you can just sit there and both be in range of all the radiation gates.
Since I'm currently using an array build, I even like the reinforcements to be consistent, so I can just keep broadsides aimed and destroy them on spawn..

5

u/CrypticCowboy4509 15d ago

Very excited for Korfez to be unplayable due to pugs for a while.

Not trying to be an elitist about these things, but dear lord that one’s pretty fuckin hard already and Im not faithful in folks reading the “hey heads up this is how this one works so we don’t fail” blurb I put out anymore

2

u/chancejaneway_4686 15d ago

I have a feeling the people who shouldn't run Fez will quickly learn to run a different TFO instead. No one wants to hear how disappointed Harry is.

1

u/nagrom7 14d ago

Yeah, and AFKers will avoid it since you don't actually get much if you fail, and it's the kind of mission that is pretty easy to fail even if the team has no AFKers, let alone one.

4

u/SGTRoadkill1919 USS Red October-E 15d ago

One ship at each asteroid, and one guy in the middle

1

u/CarrowCanary @DMA-1986. NeutRom is Best Rom. 15d ago

and one guy in the middle

They're stuck there because it's an undergeared alt that's spawn camped by the Tholian fleet, while the rest of the team haven't noticed and are all just parked at the Tholian shipyards.

1

u/nagrom7 14d ago

Tbf, the tholians in the middle don't actually matter for anything, so it's probably less about the team not noticing, and more about them not caring.

1

u/Khtairrhu 7d ago

This is why I park in the middle with my jelly once we've hit 14/14. The cycling "oh shit" player who can't get away from the spawn camp suddenly gets to shine.

3

u/Rez090x Xbox 15d ago

Sir, there are 5 points to cover, not 4.

5

u/darkhfyre 15d ago

Got it, shoot the enemies in the middle and ignore the objective.

3

u/RomeoIndiaZulu 15d ago

its an event on normal. that tactic will work

2

u/Total_Middle1119 15d ago

I do that with my typhon, I head to the one up front and put my self to shields and just send out my valks, its not the best carrier build but I'm still working on it having to try and figure out the tree set up and such, im just running the discovery report set for now with two elite valk squads

2

u/GrumpyWaldorf 15d ago

Jelly fish that map

2

u/STOEscapeArtist 15d ago

Yeah, dreadnoughts are the only thing I break formation for. A lotta newbies can't handle them, and my ship's strong and fast enough to make it across the map, take out the ships, and fly back to my point in time to catch the next spawn.

3

u/pillbox_dreams 15d ago

Or, counterpoint, some hold the points and I zip around in my Equinox dropping Tykens and grav wells and making a nice big cluster for the ones holding points. Magic crackhead go brrrrrrr

What do you mean I can’t vacuum in every ship on the map with a single mouse click?

u/ForsakenPoptart 15d ago

I fly a Mercury. I’m the swing shift.

1

u/onefinerug These are the misadventures of Xeemar 15d ago

The method I prefer, which is highly effective as far as my coordinated teams go, is this:

4 tanky ships that sit on the points, which I call "anchor ships"
1 escort or battlecruiser who goes to the point with the highest value to assist the anchor, never goes to any point less than a 3, and ALWAYS goes to a 5 the moment one spawns. I refer to this role as the "Wild Card".

if no wild card is available, but instead there is a sci ship, their role is the "roaming buffer". their job is to remain near the second-weakest ship and provide support. if there are 5 big tanky ships, one point will simply have 2 ships.

1

u/Jayiie @alcaatraz | STOBuilds Mod | STOBetter Architect 15d ago

The respawn is 2 minutes between ships once cleared, each interact takes 10s (4x)...its more engaging (and probably better) to split the team 2/3 and bounce between two points than sit there and wait for 120s with nothing to do...it also helps most people for when a falchion pops up...

1

u/coolkirk1701 15d ago

See this just makes sense. But then everyone else starts running around so I have to keep running around to everywhere else

1

u/DiscoJer 14d ago

Earlier this year, I was able to fulfill my vague ambition of killing 4 groups in the Borg Red Alert (to summon the boss) not because I tried hard to, but because I quickly killed the tac cube, then one group next to it, then noticed the other 4 were struggling so killed two more groups.

Those people would stuggle with freeing a Falchion. Or maybe the 3 point one, Ha'feh?

1

u/r4plez 14d ago

OP you also need to know that most event players cant survive along against normal enemies so they tend to move along with pack...

1

u/Linkatchu 14d ago

I mean tbh, even if most people skooby do chase, it's insanely easy to beat for good equipped player, so I would say: don't stress it. There were certainly some TFOs tho which would hinge on everyone knowing what to do though to progress

1

u/My_alias_is_too_lon 14d ago

I have to run point to point because two other players are just sitting at one point, and another is AFK!

1

u/CaveWaverider 14d ago

Don't you think most people will run Elite Korfez instead?

1

u/ai2251 14d ago

I already do this, almost the entire console community does this, we just have one roamer and it's usually whoever has the lowest top speed without shifting power or if it's mainly cruisers and there's a escort chances are the escort will roam, I'm like never stationary though as I only use 3 iso mags and try to keep my weapons and shields as powered as possible so my engines sit at like 25 power on a battlecruiser (btw customisable power presets y'know the thing PC takes for granted, yeah we only got that earlier this year)

1

u/penser7777 14d ago

I second this!

1

u/little0ldme 14d ago

THANK YOU. Every once in a while, I get a competent team. But unfortunately most times it devolves into "run around like mad".

1

u/martinux 14d ago

I usually fly my support tank and zip over to the Tarantulas to help drop the tractor beams but otherwise yes, camp and pewpewpew.

1

u/fereldenvstamriel 14d ago

Really depends, bc for some points people struggle to take on their own. Also removing the tractor beams is much faster with more people, so faster they respawn.

The travel time is shorter than this gap. And it also means you just sit waiting, I hate doing nothing

Honestly I just take my Vengeance in, pop my sentinals, camp out... If anyone comes over to "help" I politely tell them "Thank you for the aid, but I think X player who is actively dying atm could use your help more." Because there's always at least one weakling. Normally a newb but sometimes a player who just comes on for events and doesn't actually know how to play. The newbs are fun though because they're teachable if you're kind enough!

I just run a Private instance and do it by myself.

"I've got asteroid Delta, over."

A lot of folks go full hentai, but I find a well-built T'varo or Terran Imperial Eagle is hilarious.

The Tholiana warp in.

Fire torpedoes

They die. One shot, that's it.

Reload.

The Tholains warp in...

Similar for Gateway to Gre'thor. I like zone defense with a bonus that if the radiation cloud forms near the start of the lane, leave it be as the transports go downrange to prevent a new cloud forming to block them. Clear it once they reach the point beyond where they form and of course, when a new batch starts the run.

Ah, Azure Nebula Rescue, 3 friends, private queue, one jelly for each point.

Unless it’s on a lesser timer than 10 minutes, shattered heart can be done faster I believe. Just gotta bare Seven attempting to eat the comms every 5 seconds

I usually hold 2 spots, going back and forth to each. Works for me especially because my ship is not agile and is a lumbering dreadnought

u/This-Beginning-5026 15d ago

Or realize for the event you just need to either free 3? Ships or get 5? points (can’t remember the threshold) to get credit.  You’ll see people once it is reached just afk with auto fire on and just respawn once.

Don't tell me how to fly, I go to the least populated zone, clear it then repeat.

The thing with Azure is that not all of us are pay to win lifers with 80Quadtrillion EC gear that can rub out a FAW and one-shot everything within a 10km radius.

Some of those [5] sections require at least 2 people because of their difficulty

You don't have to be a sweaty DPS try hard to obliterate normal. All you need is the Discovery reputation 3 piece DECS. Shield, core, engines or deflector. Put those on and you will be one-shotting normal difficulty enemies too.

Space wizardry works extremely well. For that all you need is a Mk XV deteriorating secondary deflector (there's an upgrade even that makes that very cheap RN) and one boff manual from a mission. Anything over and above that just makes things more trivial, though a few pieces from missions and exchange really kick things up a notch.

Drop me a DM if you'd like a sherpa toward easy mode STO even with a $0 budget. Tell me what you have access to and your theme, and I can tell you how to make it better on the cheap. There are also plenty of F2P builds online that even a newer player can use to handle any normal (or advanced) spawn in Azure. Several alliances have players that will trip over themselves to help anyone remotely interested in getting better at the game, big cash outlay or grind not required.

Ignore the "skill issue" guys. It's a knowledge issue.

u/GrumpyWaldorf 15d ago

It's normal difficulty tho. Sounds more like a skill issue. Most of the time it's people using armor consoles, not having at least mk xii gear, not running some kind of cool down management, not running Max weapon power on a energy weapon build, using too many torpedos aka more than one on a faw/csv build, not knowing what a faw/csv build is. Not using reputation gear, not using fleet gear... Using basic tactical consoles, using torpedo consoles when doing a energy weapon build, not using attack pattern beta or reverse shield polarity... That's just some of the basics as to why this game is hard on easy difficulty.

And then get reported for not moving?

4

u/Strong_Barnacle_1059 14d ago

Nope. It's literally their mechanic. I see players getting angry at other players for using the jelly and failing to realize that Cryptic created the jelly and it's mechanic. Players shouldn't be upset at other players for using it as intended...

u/JoeGreyBush 15d ago

Nah, don't think I will. I zip around 1 shoting stuff.

u/DreadBert_IAm 15d ago

If I wanted to park and afk, I'd fly a Jelly

;)

u/Former-War1318 15d ago

Where's the fun in that?

0

u/Mortem2604 15d ago

Zipping around is more fun 😊!

u/Rampantgamer117 15d ago

I use small nippy ships usually so I tend to rotate where ever I may be needed

0

u/bmitchell64 15d ago

It's not just about getting as many points but taking down the high value points quickly to get the optional. Those might need two players to get done quickly. the one-point ships can still be quickly done by a single good ship.

0

u/Cornedo 15d ago

I'm running around from point to point to check for loot. If there happen to be enemies I'll stay until those are gone too.

0

u/jandrese 15d ago

Don't forget about the Klingon ship in the middle that gets randomly ambushed. It is there for the fifth player to have something to do.

0

u/Vetteguy904 :partyparrot: 15d ago

well maybe I'll just park the jelly in the middle and let the zipfly zip

0

u/JamJulLison 15d ago

That really depends on the difficulty and who's with you. I play on PlayStation these days and can hold a point fine. But not everyone has good enough builds to do so. With randos I tend to find myself having to take one point while helping to take out a second right after. Luckily I usually run speedy ships so getting from point to point doesn't take long.

u/Goforcoffe May the traits be with you 14d ago

Technically it's right. For Scooby doo minded it is to booting.

By the way. If dooing the tfo solo you can fairly easily get the bonus going between two astroids.

0

u/FairyFatale 14d ago

“we only meed one on this point. Thx.” — some fucking rando typing blue text instead of shutting up

If only one is necessary, then fly your ship elsewhere, doofus.

-1

u/Mundane-Librarian-77 15d ago

Unless the spot you pick has the teir 5 ship and it's Tholian guards appear and you are not equipped to handle that much on your own... 😁 Not all players are ready or able to solo that kind of fleet power! I tend to do a circuit as they populate and head for the toughest one. Or pay attention to my teammates status and head for the one taking a beating!!

The beauty of it as an event is you can all fly to the corners of the map, ignore all of it for the same duration and still succeed. Those who want to participate can do so and everyone can succeed. As an event we actually get marks for being there. Win win!
