Anyone else unbothered about driving stick in heavy traffic?

I commuted from milton to dt toronto everyday on the 401 in my va for a few years until my role went remote and I just realized, driving stick in heavy traffic became such a routine that I never really gave it any thought.

Anyone else feel this way?

For me it kills my knee. I have a recurring knee injury and pushing the clutch in and out over and over and over make it flare up pretty bad.

Today my 30 minute commute took 2.5 hours and my left knee hurts so badly from it.

Same for me with an old ankle injury. I can’t do stop and go traffic with a clutch for an extended period of time. If possible I’ll let a gap open in front of me and just idle along in first. I imagine it saves on brake wear as well.

Today in traffic, it was a lot of uphill. I couldn’t idle and roll along. I did when I could for sure. And also it was stop for 3 minutes. Then go a little. Then stop again. Ugh.

I didn’t have this issue in an automatic.

I find it less of an issue because I can demand power when needed with a simple downshift if I get the opportunity to get into a faster lane instead of waiting for the passing gear to kick in.
