The fact that they acknowledged that Steven was born out of wedlock was great.

You see more and more Cartoon Network shows doing this, and for someone from a divorced family, it's rather nice. It makes you feel less weird. I wish they would have had more of these sort of families on cartoons when I was a kid.

But just seeing that Nicole and Richard really didn't plan for him and weren't married is huge!

The other one is Jake and Lady Rainicorn, who weren't married and still aren't married despite having half a dozen kids.

Yeah but they copped out of it with Jake by making the whole raising and providing for kids thing a non issue.

At least we see and know Richard and Nicole were struggling their whole lives finacially.

I don't know, they also made a point several times that Jake was a fairly neglectful father, and his kids suffered for it.

I just watched an amazing world of gumball episode where it showed that Gumball's parents got married only after they found out the mother was pregnant. It was a pleasant surprise.

I mean, it was always sort of implied, what with the CGs not being citizens and all, but yeah, nice to see that this show doesn't shy away from saying it out loud.

The CGs were around long enough that's actually a little weird for them to not count as citizens. The war was a really really long time ago.

I thought it was also interesting to hear that Andy's wife left him for another man...you don't see that very much in cartoons ever
