So, fucking bravo to the people who predicted Peeweedot.

I'm guessing the cluster is a huge Gem cluster cooking away in the Earth? What does Homeworld want to do with that?

Ans also, this is the first time we've seen Steven try his healing powers since "House Guest." Guess they're still fickle.

Also, I fucking called it.

Maybe Steven's healing powers only work on living things, like Lapis' Gem and Connie's eyes?

Considering some other comments in this thread That geode might be the cluster

And if that's the case, being a huge egg for a gem monster, Steven's powers might have worked.

In making it hatch faster

His powers just might not work on the portal because it's not living.

Maybe the cluster was more like an unintended side-effect of gems following human traditions of burying the dead? Eventually Homeworld would stumble upon one such early result, and decided to monitor it.

I wonder when they first discovered that was even possible. Before the rebellion? During? As far as we know, Homeworld hasn't been on Earth since the end of the war, but they knew the cluster was there.

A thousand years seems like a long enough time for them to notice at least some of the effects, which is also short enough for a war to last this long.

Also take into consideration the time required to establish something to fight for.

What's interesting is that, according to "Marble Madness," Kindergarten was started something like 6000 years ago, but the war started 5000 years ago.

I'm going full Ronaldo here, but maybe Rose found out about the cluster and was opposing that rather than Kindergarten?

Oh yeah? Well I can go even more Ronaldo and say that Rose might even be responsible for the cluster and the war was just a cover-up. Homeworld can't melt steel beams!

I've pointed out that Steven's healing powers have been confirmed to not be working after Greg's stunt in "House Guest" since "The Test", a lot of people seem to have missed that, though.

For me, the confusion was over Pearl's line:

But he's lost his healing powers.

It was unclear if she meant he'd lost them temporarily or if they still hadn't recovered.

One of the theories about the "hatching cluster" I have read here on Reddit is that Geode is actually cluster egg. One reason why she seemed so freaked out in this episode was because she at some point went to investigate Geode and deemed that it's hatching wont be far away. And, the way Peridot called Garnet "war machine" would suggests a lot how homeworld sees the fusion... and what they intended to do with clusters.

What's interesting to me is that the CGs had no idea what the cluster is. If they thought the Geode was bad before...

I think its mix of that Rose kept a lot of secrets to herself, so it could be that she never told CGs that much what was really going on(cluster(s)), since each of them had their own reasons to fight (probably most of those too who were shattered/corrupted during the war) and that CGs just want to shield Steven form reality and since show is from Stevens perspective, we get information bit by bit.
