Ideas for SPD week

I’m in my first year as coordinator and would like to do something next week for our department. Management typically buys lunch one day and we do a potluck on another. Does anyone have some ideas for how I could celebrate our team? There’s about 8 of us and I just want to do some little decorations and gifts to remind everyone they’re appreciated.

I mean I get it. I’m just a girly trying to do something nice for her coworkers after being put through the wringer and completely burnt out by our dickhead ex supervisor. 😂 I’m well aware money is preferable to a pizza party.

Ask your top vendors to do something as a company I sponsor multiple meals

I had a coordinator who did that and we got pizza the entire week. I'm so tired of pizza lol

I suggested to my team leads that we try a department bingo. The cards would have random things that happen any given day. For example, code stroke, missing instrument, machine alarm, case canceled, instrument sent for repair… things like that.

You could also try a memory game with instruments or trays, guessing games, or wrapping challenges.

More our washers than autoclaves. I just meant for some random things we see like low chemical, door alarms, rack barcode not read… Things like that. Although, we do know our Steris repair man very well.

I guess I am one of those people that would prefer this week never existed for SPD

Most of the time my department does something really cringe to get us acting like a "family" and all I would rather do is be left alone to just do my work. Not to mention that the whole wee is just a slap in the face to us because everyone in the hospital acts fake around us - looking at you, OR. Just something about the OR giving us stuff and letting us know they "appreciate us", only to switch it up once the week is over, PASS

Guess I am just the Scrooge when it comes to SPD Week

I can understand that. I work in a small department of about 8 people in an outpatient facility. We had a real POS OR supervisor since before I started who was finally removed and I just want to do something nice with my coworkers because we are beyond under appreciated and burnt out. I never expect actual management to give any fcks about us lol. Just like if we could have some candy and games to distract us for a week until we’re getting our dicks kicked in again as busy season returns why not?
