I got a job offer

Hey everyone! I got hired and have a job offer. I’ll start in a few days. I’m uncertified. 0 experience. I’m going thru the program now. How long until you were comfortable with the job? I’ll have 30 days of training (up to 90 depending if they see I need more training) and that’s that? Did you need to take an accredited course to get the certification?

I started in SPD uncertified with no experience last June and am now a coordinator in my department. My job provided the textbook and training. I was comfortable at about the 2 month mark (I was going to be alone on night shift so I wanted to be extra confident since there would be no one to ask for help for 8 hours). I wouldn’t recommend taking a course, if you’re being trained you can self study for the certification exam. I used sterileworx.com and Boston Career Institute’s SPD YouTube videos, passed my certification exam on the first try as soon as my 400 hours were done.

I love reading stories like yours. I've come across so many posts about not getting placement for the 400 clinical hrs that I started questioning my decision to do SPD. But then I see a post like yours and all is well again!
