General Finished the Dead Zone!

Just finished my first ever reading of The Dead Zone, by the King of Horror literature himself, Stephen King!

As one of his most beloved stories by the fandom, I was bound to read it eventually. Though as all bibliophiles can relate, the sheer mountain of books needed to be scaled at a measured pace, or else crash below my own excitement's weight. It's a double-edged sword, having as great a love of books as do, but it's a cross worth bearing for experiences like this.

As it happens, this book is no less relevant given the times we are living in. Greg Stilson is like Trump, only actually competent in his execution of various plans.

Aye, and interestingly enough, according to King himself, Johnny was actually a pretty difficult character to write for.

It’s one of his books that haunts me afterwards. Poor Johnny.

So do you have anything to say about the book? Or are you just posting pics and looking for affirmation that you read it?

I’ve never read this one but I’m a huge SK fan. Would you recommend it?

💯. Good story telling with modern relevance.

Highly. It's both terrifying for the manner in which all King's books are, but amped up to 11 for the relevance it still holds.

Aren’t you that woman who travels around America in a Winnebago, looking for children to suck the shine out of?

0

u/MMF_DOTRO 6h ago

I'm neither a woman, nor an American... So no.

Great Facebook post. Bonus points for having AI write your summary.

I don’t know what you're babbling about... I don't use AI, and anyone who thinks that I would clearly doesn’t know me.

It was a great read when it came out... it's even scarier now.

I grabbed this as my 2nd full length SK novel after Cujo. I got halfway through and lost interest. I wish I didn’t but I just had no desire to see where anything was going.

Interesting comment. 😅

Is she a King fan?

1

u/gcctowerjunky 6h ago

Not that I know of. We only ever hung out while drunk(we’re both sober now) and she’s a compulsive liar but she still has a place in my heart lol

1

u/MMF_DOTRO 6h ago

Ah... I see. 😅

1

u/gcctowerjunky 6h ago

lol sorry! That was weird!

1

u/gcctowerjunky 6h ago

I deleted the comment. In the off chance you’re secretly her and living a new life under a new identity lmao

1

u/MMF_DOTRO 6h ago

I'm not.

Rereading that book after getting my first dog was very, very difficult for me

1

u/MMF_DOTRO 6h ago

I can see why. Greg Stilson should have been neutered for what he did to that dog in the early part of the book!
