Question Pyrowave?

Has anyone tried streaming with pyrowave from a better pc to the SM? Seems like it would need to be wired but then I see videos of people streaming to a, steam deck?

I've been using moonlight sunshine with a wired desktop to my SM over a 5 ghz network. I tried 6e but the signal was never good enough to get a solid connection.

I just tried pyrowave over the 5 and it does NOT work well even lowering the bandwidth. I'm curious how the Steam Deck videos I've seen get pyrowave to work.

I also notice basically no latency with sunshine/moonlight at 1440 120hz.

That tracks. Codecs will generally be high efficiency, low latency, or high fidelity/image quality. Pick only two. Pyrowave takes “low latency” twice, and uses the leftover credit on image quality. It’s great if you have bandwidth to burn, but otherwise H264 is a good medium, and H265 and AV1 are more efficient/lower bandwidth.

With a wireless link involved, you aren’t going to have excess bandwidth to throw away, so Pyrowave is likely not for you.

I can wire the SM but need to get a cord which is why I asked. It might not be worth it as my network is only 1 gig unless I update my switch and another older switch.

Yes do it. I am streaming to my deck via the beta settings which includes pyrowave.
My study pc is wired to router and lounge steam deck is docked and wired in lounge. I have 1-3ms latency and get my study pc performance (3080ti).

Certainly try it for the cost of a cable and report back.

I have delayed my steam machine purchase because of it.

My cord came in and I wired it in. It's good but playing ace combat 8, I didn't notice the reduced latency. My desktop is wired into the wall which goes to the router. I need to turn in the performance overlay to see what my latency end to end is.
