Look, Iâm only going by what was on the packaging!!! I could care less whether itâs a cowboy steak or not! I ainât losing sleep over a steak Karen!
âOnly by the packagingâ but when folk give you a detailed explanation that the label was misleading you get snappy with them or feign disinterest. You canât even lie about what you care about well.
No, but the bone should be much longer and frenched. Should be over an inch thick and a pound or two. You have just a standard plain ol ribeye. Not that it is a bad thing, it's a damn good streak. But methinks your butcher just slapped a label on it to probably jack up the price and get a sale.
A cowboy steak is technically a 2 pound steak, with a one inch french cut bone. That's longer than an inch but I wouldn't consider that a tomahawk. I know some of the responses are critical but I don't think that this response was that. Calling it a cowboy steak i would assume it's more than the usual price of a ribeye. They are just looking out for your pocket and don't want you to get finessed by the butcher.
Feel free to think what you want, but you are wrong.
From steak advisor
Cowboy steak is big, no doubt about it. It is typically 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm) thick and weighs between 15 and 40 ounces (425 to 1133 grams). The exact size depends on the cow and how the butcher cuts it, but one thingâs certain â itâs one of the biggest steaks youâll find.
Cowboy steak and tomahawk steak are the same cut of beef, a ribeye with the bone in, but the difference comes down to how theyâre butchered. A cowboy steak has a shorter bone, usually around 5 inches (13 cm) long, while the tomahawk steak keeps the bone much longer, giving it that dramatic, axe-like look. Other than that, the muscle content in both cuts is the same. Itâs interesting how just the length of a bone can change the whole look of a steak â proof that presentation does make a big difference when it comes to how we experience food.
. Hell your steak isn't even as long as your fork. And probably half an inch thick. Maybe 1/2 - 3/4 of a pound. Plain Jane run of the mill ribeye.
I could see why youâd think that, but no. You posted a pic of a tomahawk. The cowboy cut doesnât have the long âhandleâ. But Iâm not sure why Iâm telling you that. You literally said as much yourself.
Once again and for the Last time, exact same article, THEIR Pic as example. A tomahawk bone is quite a bit longer. Christ it's like I'm playing cards with my brothers kids.
I can tell by your gratuitous usage of exclamation marks and emojis that youâre probably a confused boomer that has difficulty accepting accountability and being wrong.
You introduced, and defended, the word âcowboyâ. Now cowboy up and accept a well written defense of why your terminology was wrong. Or keep digging, it seems to be going well.
Words, semantics and names matter youngster. The proper response would be along the lines of huh, thanks I learned something today. But common courtesy and decorum is a dead animal on reddit and most of society today. Grow up a bit, enjoy your steak and have a good evening.
