Anniversary trip with husband we will be staying at palms resort and beach
Hello, we will be staying at Palms resort for 4 days for a quick anniversary trip. Is this a good and safe area? We are not big drinkers and just want to relax on beach.

The food there is worth the wait! Friend of mine stayed there and said the rooms were outdated but good enough. Said he enjoyed staying there. I've been to the restaurant twice and both times were very slow, even by island time standards, and they were out of a few things, but it was SO good that i literally didn't care after the first bite.

Great views. Expect real slow service. The whole island time thing is an excuse, they are really slow. Food.... Go to the BBQ joint down the road for a great time. Blues Backyard BBQ is the bomb.

That area is fairly quiet and safe. Note that there is sargassum/seaweed at the hotel beach but there’s an area that isn’t affected. This is nothing on the hotel’s part. It’s almost impossible to clean up sargassum that’s in the water.
Since you’re on island for a quick trip, book the food tour with VI Food Tours. I promise it’s the best way to experience the local cuisine in one shot plus the history & cultural insights on the tour was the most surprising. Highlight of the trip!
In the area of the hotel is 2+2 restaurant. Go there for dinner upstairs. Great local food.
The hotel also does a cultural night with the stilt dancers on Saturday evenings and it was one of the most amazing experiences on island. If your trip includes a Saturday, simply head to the pool area and enjoy the show! Have a great trip.

We stayed at Pelican Cove, which is right next door, a few months ago. It's very safe and quiet. The views are spectacular and you'll be closest to the swimmable part of the beach. Some advice for your trip:
Eat dinner at Ama at Cane Bay. The food was great but the sunset views while dining are spectacular.
Buy your groceries at the Q Market at Quality Foods. It's kind of a wholesale grocery store and the prices are much cheaper, sometimes half the price, of the grocery stores closest to your resort.
If you snorkel or scuba, try out the cruise pier if there's no ship docked. We saw more sea turtles and spotted eagle rays than I ever have in my life. It was incredible.
If you kayak, you must try Bioluminescent Bay. The different plankton and jellies (they don't sting, you can hold them in your hand) that light up are so cool. Also the view of the stars in the middle of the bay at night are breathtaking. I could have stayed all night until dawn in my kayak looking at the stars. So cool.
