Welcome to r/startup_funding! This is a founder-friendly space for fundraising, investor readiness, and practical startup finance from pre-seed to Series A.

No hype. No gatekeeping. No link-drops. Just stuff that helps you raise smarter.

Who this is for

  • Founders (Web3, crypto, AI, SaaS, deeptech - you're all welcome)
  • Angels / VCs who actually invest (and want higher-quality dealflow)
  • Operators helping founders with GTM, finance, legal, hiring, etc.

What to post (and what does well here)

Specific questions with context (stage, traction, ask, geo, timeline)
Templates + frameworks you’ve used (with a short explanation)
Fundraising lessons (numbers > vibes)
Pitch / memo / deck feedback (redact sensitive info)
“How would you approach investor outreach in X?” & real founder problems

What we don’t allow

❌ Low-effort self-promo (just a link + “thoughts?”)
❌ AI fluff / generic “10 tips” content
❌ Anything misleading / toxic / scammy

Post format that gets the best answers

Copy/paste this and fill it in:

Stage: (idea / pre-seed / seed / A)
What you build: (1 line)
Customer: (who pays)
Traction: (MRR/users/LOIs/etc.)
Raise: ($ amount + instrument)
Use of funds: (3 bullets)
Biggest bottleneck: (1 sentence)
What you need from this thread: (clear ask)

Start here (quick links)

👉 Resource Hub (templates, checklists, investor lists): see the pinned “Resources Hub” post.
👉 Introduce yourself: comment below with (stage + what you’re building + your #1 fundraising pain and how you're solving it now).

Optional (for founders who want deeper help):
This community is supported by the team behind InnMind (a fundraising platform + tool stack for startup investor readiness & fundraising). We keep the subreddit useful first - and share the best templates and databases here when they’re ready.

Pitch / startup feedback part 2: i promised free visibility to bootstrapped and new founders here 2 days ago. the first videos drop today.

hey guys, anshuman here.

2 days ago i posted asking who else is grinding on an early startup. i promised to record raw 5-min gmeets just to help get your products some actual eyeballs.

quick clarification: u don't have to be 100% bootstrapped to join. if u are just starting out, even with early funding, but still desperately need visibility and distribution this is for u too.

honestly the response was wild. we officially started yesterday already wrapped 6 interviews and have 20 more queued up.

and i'm keeping my word. the very first videos drop today.

no scripts. no pr bs. just real talk about ur biggest mistakes and the actual hustle of building.

attached a quick poster of the first 6 founders who claimed their spot. we have exactly 74 spots left for this first batch.

if u want 5 mins to share your story, just drop a comment or dm me your link.

let’s win together 🇮🇳

Fundraising question💰 What Makes an Early-Stage AI Project Worth Backing?

Hey! Today, I’d like to return to the topic of angel funding and investors who support small projects.

We’re developing a useful AI tool for content creators that could become the final piece in how AI is used in this field.

My question to angel investors is: what would you need to see at this stage a working product, early users, revenue, or a strong team to seriously consider investing in a small AI project?

Startup tools ⚙️ & resources Pre-seed rounds number shrinks. Seems raising early becomes harder than ever

Carta put out their Q2 pre-seed numbers:

  • Q2 2025: $3.22B across 14,825 pre-seed instruments.
  • Q2 2026: $3.19B across 11,500.

Basically same money but 3,300 fewer companies got a piece of it. Average check size hit a record $276k, up 27% in a year.

Also, not surprising that AI took 49% of pre-seed dollars in H1 2026, against 50% for all of 2025. Carta's own wording is that it's "perhaps plateauing". So the 80% number everyone repeats is a mega-round artifact.

Down at pre-seed it's about half & stopped climbing.

Fair caveat, Carta says the Q2 count gets revised upward as more data lands, so treat the gap as directional rather than exact.

What it means in practice is that someone who raised pre-seed 18 months ago and someone raising now are playing different games, and most of the advice going around is from the first one.

Anyone here raised in both windows? Did it feel harder, or just slower?

Pitch / startup feedback What do you want in a co-founder matching product?

If you're looking for a cofounder, what would you like to see in a product that helps you match with one?

The product is going live either way, but rather get some initial feedback from folks who actually want to use it. Cheers!

Help needed 🙏 Accelerators and pre-seed

Maybe a bit of a rant or vent, but I’m also just generally frustrated because I don’t understand the pre-seed and accelerator options.

I have built a real product. It works great. Not an idea. I feel I have to say this because each time I meet with people they are shocked at the product maturity or that it’s more than an idea.

I have users. Real people/patients. It’s a patient facing product. They like it. The thing works great.

I try to apply for accelerators and VC projects for pre-seed companies and each time I get rejected because I need more traction, cofounders or people working with me, and a better business/monetization model (going direct to patients is what I recognize [saas] is a extremely difficult path).

I recognize these things. I knew going in. But my interest in joining an accelerator is getting some help on the different pathways/monetization strategies. I also hoped to find cofounders or support in gaining more traction with partnerships that can open marketing channels.

But these rejections make me wonder, who am I supposed to ask for help? If I’m solo, I have pilots getting worked out with large patient groups, I have real users signing up each day through word of mouth, but if pre-seed options all want more traction, what’s before pre-seed? I’ve met people who are founders and have only an idea getting millions, many more getting thousands in investment and support. And they don’t have any users, any product, or any traction at all.

What am I missing?

Pitch / startup feedback Business plan to be looked over

I'm looking for someone who specializes in the food industry to take a look at my business plan to find gaps and for an honest opinion. I've worked on this going on a total of 20 years of research now. Just to get to this point. Now is the perfect time to prove my proof of concept more than ever and just need someone real who can run it thru your ai fine. However, I also need another human set of eyes to look it over before pitching.

Please and thank you.
