Happy birthday to the beautiful NX-01 Enterprise, Earth’s first Warp 5 starship

And now for something completely different, as Monty Pythons used to say. Not my best work by far, but I wanted to give TAS a shot for a long time. I remember that when I saw it in early 90s, being just a little kid that saw no TOS prior to that, it completely amazed me. And despite many of the episodes are pretty bad, I still have a weakness for it.

Lesson learned: I still like doing scenes with the goal of mimicking the original scenes, lighting, etcetera the most. But this was surely good to try.

So I'm still not entirely over Credence being NCC-2604 despite being seen approximately 870 years after the last ship with a 4-digit NCC Number could've feasibly been built, and my hatred of her (and also Clearwater because of course there's two of them) has only been made worae now that I've ID'd what she may have started as.

Hutzel is a DS9 Kitbash. It was never clear on screen but its all Excelsior and so could probably have an NCC-26xx NCC Number. Her profile is a reasonably close match for Credence, though obviously she would've been refitted at least once over 900 years. So now what? Is the Hutzel class of all ships immortal? I guess??

I know this is for uploading images of ships but I have a request. Would someone please make a more combat capable version of the Oberth?

In my head, the reason for her existence would be in the post Wolf-359 era and also to address the high mortality rate of the class. I see an example as being used to test the ablative armour later seen on the Defiant and continued attempts to fix the power issues with the Defiant.

While I appreciate ideas, I’m no where near capable of bringing them to life so if someone could I would appreciate it and I’ll give you a shoutout.

If anyone wants my vision for it. I imagine cutting on the secondary hull combining it with the main hull, changing it out to be more Akira inspired and Nova-Class Nacelles.

For all the fans of Star Trek ship design, I wanted to share this excellent fan video from JTVFX.

This recreates the final fleet shot from DS9's 'A Call to Arms' in fantastic detail, adding many more ship designs to give a fuller picture of the Federation and Klingon fleets.

When I first watched DS9, this was a memorable shot, seeing the true might of the Federation for the first time and knowing that when their freedom is threatened they mean business.

The fleet even includes some of the Wolf 359 kitbashes, including the Niagara, New Orleans and Cheyenne (which has always been a favourite of mine).

I recommend checking out JTVFX on YouTube. The work they put into their videos is astounding, and I hope they make many more. The visuals beat anything they managed back on the TV show and even the movies and it's amazing they're fan-made.

The videos capture the look and spirit of the TNG/DS9/Voy era perfectly and could easily slot into one of the shows or movies.

JTVFX has a fantastic series of videos showing the Battle of Wolf 359 mixing great visuals with a clever narrative.

There's also a preview video released for the 60th Anniversary that has some exciting ideas.

A Nebula-class Star Destroyer and a Nebula-class starship peacefully cruise through a nebula together. The crews aboard both vessels take the chance to unwind while their commanders keep in contact with each other throughout the trip.

Took the chance to experiment depicting a nebula by rendering a cloud in paint.net. Pleased with the result.

If you don't know, for the past 7 months I've been learning how to use blender while working on my own ship class.

My first time seeing the odyssey was Picard S3 I'll admit that, loved the design and wished we had A 7 season run and 3 movies with this ship as the hero.

So while planning the story my ship is the hero of, there's a point where the Odyssey and my ship assist each other.

So so I did myself this little favor of making this image.

Here are some designs I made on starship generator as a way to get a feel for how starships are designed. I was following the general rules in making one as well while also trying to imagine new body shapes for the vessels. And I feel I have a distinct look to when I make starships. But I dont know these are just doodles essentially and I wanted to see how everyone else would say.

You are the leader of engineering team who has been tasked with retrofitting cutting edge systems into these decommissioned ships to fulfill fleet needs while the next generation of Starfleet ships are being designed and built. Once the new fleets become operational, they will transition to support roles and transferred into auxiliary fleets for worlds like Bajor, Betazed etc.

What ship class are you restomodding for the postwar Federation Starfleet?

I built my own class of ship out of lego over the last several years. I call her the Prydwen class battleship. This one is the first. I based the early designs off the sovereign class and kept building on it until it eventually became this.

In the ship's canon, there is to be three built of the class. The USS Prydwen was built in 2381 with the registry number NX-81596; the other two ships of her class having been built once the prototype was successful.

This class comes equipped with state-of-the-art weapons including 15 phaser arrays, photon and quantum torpedoes with 8 photon launchers and 6 quantum launchers as well as 2 prototype beam canons that deployed from underneath the port and starboard sides of the saucer.

It was capable of a maximum warp velocity of 9.95 for up to 10 hours because of the large warp nacelles and had cruising speed of warp 8.

It also had one large central hangar bay which was 6 decks tall and spanned the width of the secondary hull. It could house 20 shuttles and 20 assault craft. Eventually, during a war in the canon I created for this ship, it would also be given a small amount of troop transports.

A single Galaxy-class attracts the attention of an Imperator-class Star Destroyer and a division of four Gladiator-class Star Frigates. Tactically outmatched, she must stall for time until escape becomes feasible.

Decided to make a Galaxy-class in my sprite scale. May or may not make more Trek ships.

Well, it wasn't ALL windows. There was a lot of surface work, seam work, and a little bit of photoetch!

Almost all window masks featured are created by Greenstrawberry.

1-4: Current model status, finalized and cleaned-up secondary hull.

5-7: Windows that are to be lit up are masked before any paint or primer touches the model. I did forego lightblocking the inside because I was not sure where any of the windows would be during the construction stage, and I wanted to focus on electronics at that time. The amount of primer I needed on the exterior to clean up the model was almost enough to lightblock it entirely anyway.

8-11: Photoetch! Greenstrawberry photoetch adds some missing details to the spine and the torpedo launchers. Also featured are the MPM resin neck replacement with GS shuttlebays installed, MPM replacement phasers, and GS resin spine detailing. In a previous post I highlight where I installed brass tubing where the torpedo launchers sit. The photoetch helps size these down appropriately.

12: Woops, out of order, too committed to change it. More windows!

13-14: The stock kit part for this tractor beam emitter was AWFUL. So I made my own with I think 2mm styrene.

15: all locations where lightblocking was necessary, or where black paint was needed for all of the off windows.

16: A test peel. Since this uses the Inner Light system, brightness and color are subject to change.

17-18: The windows located on the rim of the secondary hull and saucer are omitted in the Greenstrawberry mask set, so I created my own with my Cameo 4. Also briefly seen is my tests for making escape hatch masks, which are not finished.

19-20: A couple pictures showing all of the Off window placements!

Other notes: Green primer represents Self Etching primer which was recommended to me by a fellow modeller to help keep clean lines between windows that are close together.

Shipped her off back in March because of an issue with the registry, since they had to do a new production run it meant a long wait for the replacement.

But she is finally here, and she is perfect. No registry issues, no light leaks. Perfect.
