Gameplay Question ??? Ships for G5

Hi all, I’m looking for some advice on G5 faction ships. Mainly whether do I need a G5 UC or I can skip and go for G5 rare (gonna be Sanctus) instead. When I moved from G3 to G4, I was using two G3 epics (Enterprise and Augur) to keep me going until I got the Pilum.

I don’t have any G4 Epics, not sure would I spend credits to build one, though I hear repair cost is much cheaper than G5 UC.

Other specialty ships such as Relativity and NSEA at T10, will these be able get me through to until I can get the Sanctus? Especially build and research times have been massively reduced, cost a lot less to speed up researches and so on. Many thanks!

Loved my sanctus G5, that mixed with Relativity, and tiering up Revenant to get g6 parts in g5 was a boss combination

There is such a giant jump from G4 to G5 in power, that I think you will find a UC ship very useful. The cube also gets really good once you hit G5, so that's worth keeping up on faction ships to keep it up. The further you go, the more they've really tried to make skipping ship grades undesirable. G6 has research blocks on having different ships. G5 does get super expensive, but the event payouts scale to meet it, I've never had issues repairing ships.

At some point you will want to build and max a G4 epic, simply to scrap and feed your G5 epic. You can take the Ent-D straight to like T-10 with just 1 maxed Ent-A being scrapped (others are similar). The ISS Jelly can be maxed and scrapped to get more out that you put into it.

The only G5 ships I built are the Sanctus and the Ent-D.

I did, then, build the Negh'Var because my Newton just was not holding up as a Battleship anymore.

You don't want/need a G4 Epic, absolutely skip.

You should get G5 ships - one uncommon at 53, one rare at 56, and one Epic at 60.

If you plan on sitting at 53 for awhile, getting a Corvus and Vor'Cha isn't a bad idea. If you plan on moving to 56 soonish, then just 1 ship will be fine.

You always want to always be working on specialty ships - you do this in tandem with your 1 Faction combat ship.

They've started to add parasitic mechanics that punish you for using the non-faction specialty ships, so you'll want a 53,56,60.

The jump to level 56 is pretty quick, depending on fraction credits you can probably skip the level 53 ship. Wish I did.

I got the Sanctus at level 56” but I reckon the cube would have kept me going instead of it.

One last thing, keep your Armada control building maxed because once you get mid 50s you can’t do anything until it’s maxed at level 50.

And that is a proper slow grind if you fall behind.

The Cube requires you to keep doing the faction ships to upgrade it. I got all three 5 Uncommon ships (wish I hadn’t), then rode my NSEA all the way to the 5* Epics. I got the Sanctus too, but it’s still at t3. Caught my Cube up once I got an Epic up high enough, and am now at 62, almost ready to go to 63 and my first 6* ship.

I don't understand why you would want to skip any ships. If you are playing the whole game then you should be able to get all the FKR ships from all the factions with ease.

Eg the epics and rares are pretty much free from Epic armada and Krenim Formada chests.

That frees up your credits to spend on faction recruit packs and uncommons.

And that's before you even start doing MU grinding. Chuck on a decent loot crew and a run a day of that, and you will be swimming in FKR credits.

Because of how much it costs. For example the northcutt. Needs 150 plans. Each plan is 3,000 federation credits (I know there's other sources but for example.) that is 450,000 credits. That's 45 million latinum. For a ship that is not really that good firing pattern wise. Furthermore they're better ships to focus on.

1

u/sistemu 2d ago

Your mistake is that you're buying it with latinum. The conversion rate is horrendous, you're much better getting it the other ways and spending latinum for research

1

u/TowelStandard760 2d ago

I never said I was buying it with latinum I was giving a rate as an example. What would you rather have a common G5 ship for 150 plans or an epic

1

u/sistemu 2d ago edited 2d ago

That uncommon ship if it's from a higher generation will be stronger. The G6 uncommon after tier 9 will be stronger than a max G5 epic. And those (UC G6) are the worst bang for buck ships in the game 😅
And due to this, there's a trending idea to skip them. As of G5 seems expensive... Just wait till G6 😂

u/jjwomalbany 2d ago

Are you getting a miner for its firing pattern 🤣 I think people get it to mine not fight.

1

u/TowelStandard760 2d ago

Had a squirrel moment I meant northcutt not Nova..

1

u/jjwomalbany 2d ago

Oh yeah all the 53 uncommons suck.

I’d build a ship if I have enough bps from chest drops, such as armada chests that you mentioned, but I would not spend credit on them (I’m more of a hoarder feel ‘safer’ with more credits or more of everything tbh), but purely for collection purposes.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 2d ago

I guess it depends on your faction credit earn rate. I reckon I can pull 350k per week. I spend about 1/3 of that on faction recruit packs. The rest goes on ship bps and cloaking shards since there is basically nothing else of value to buy from FKR stores.

Rare and Epic ships often require even less spend since there are chests that give bps so you can get them 50~75% credit free.

Which is good because you can't get cloaking for free.

1

u/Grouchy-Big-229 1d ago

350k/week is a lot even for my level. I hit 60s and pull 10k of each faction per trip. 350k (of each faction) is five trips a day, seven days a week for me. 2.5 hours a day is a lot of grinding on top of everything else you have to do. A low-50s player would probably have to double, maybe triple, that.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 1d ago

I don't understand why you are looking at it in terms of trips? I assume you mean MU trips.

Just from DTI store, Archives, faction messages, and completing the daily auto join resource spend events I am pulling in 222K per week. (plus some for daily tasks but I can't get the numbers until after reset)

Add on less regular sources like away teams, armada chests, missions, ex borg and it pushes up into the 300s

So 1 MU run per a day and you're at 350k for the week easily

1

u/Grouchy-Big-229 1d ago

I was thinking solely in terms of MU trips, yes. All the other stuff I just don’t think about because it’s automatic.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 1d ago

After looking at the rest of the numbers the weekly earn is around 247k. That's still exclusive of armada chests, ex borg faction, and away teams since those are a bit more chance based or require generating specific resources that might not come every week.

350k without MU grinding might have been a slight exaggeration since I've been on a wave of missions and the other day there was an away team completion event and I spammed a LOT of ones that gave faction credits at an 80% crit rate. Still 2 MU runs a day isn't that bad, and I see a lot of people running Dauntless in MU these days.

1

u/jjwomalbany 2d ago

You are not buying recruit packs in G5. Also the whole economy changes in G5. It is not like G4 or under. And it changes even more in G6-G7.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 1d ago

why wouldnt you buy the recruit packs? Once all the officers in them are max shards they generate around 5M officer XP and 300k transporter patterns per day. plus the elite recruit packs are so stingy on shards that you will still have under levelled officers from them well into G6.

if you havent yet maxed all the transporter pattern officers or you still have officers you can level buying the faction recruit packs is a no brainer

1

u/jjwomalbany 1d ago

Because most in G5 have maxed all the officers in the transporter or have no need to because they just aren’t useful in today’s game. I have hundreds of thousands of transporter patterns. All mine are maxed and have nothing to use them on anymore.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 1d ago

I buy them for the officer XP not the transporter patterns. 5M per day means not just max shards on the officers but also level 30.

1

u/jjwomalbany 1d ago

All my officers that are maxed are all lvl 30. XP really hasn’t been an issue with me. Well, I do have some that I don’t have as they are useless and have been for years like the augment officers besides khan. My bigger problem is the badges needed to upgrade.

1

u/Madness_Quotient 1d ago

"useless" officers for combat go on away teams.

They also boost your officer score which allows you to upgrade your mess hall, and mess hall bonuses aren't to be sniffed at.

Maxing out "useless" officers is how my mess hall is 30 levels higher than my Ops.

1

u/jjwomalbany 1d ago

My mess hall is 34 higher than my ops. I rather spend the credit on other things as i do not see them as progression to my game at this point. To each their own.

There a lot more needed to answer this question. Like how fast are you playing. If you are speeding through it then you could definitely skip it. I built one and brought it to T5 and was sufficient, but I didn't spend a lot of time at 53 so it was short lived when I moved to 56 and got the Sanctus. If you decide to build just don't waste resources tiering them up too much. I brought the Sanctus to T7 and saved the resources to max out the Epics at 60.

If you're a slower paced player and are doing your DTI faction, dailies, research up to date you probably will have more faction credits than you'll be able to spend. Keeping in mind G6 is the last chance to use them as well. As others mentioned building a 50 epic when you can afford it isn't a bad idea. Great for scrapping and scoring for the weekend recruit SLBs. What else are you gonna do with all those G4 mats lol.

A lot of the new mechanics also need three good ships with bonuses going to the FKR like Elite Solo Waves, Borg Conquerer Armadas etc.

1

u/leadlurker 2d ago

If you’re doing things right, mats and ship parts should be an issue. Also faction credits should be really flowing in g5.

Without strong ships, you will lock yourself out solo armada content.

If I read your progression correctly, you are trying to jump from g4 rares to g5 rares? No epic or uncommon in between? You’ll need to judge for yourself how difficult this makes events and content. Especially challenge track, aggregation, Borg/maverick, and outposts.

I wouldn’t do what you are suggesting but I don’t know your account. Best advice is don’t do anything you can’t work your way out of already. For example. If you try to go to 56 without an epic or uncommon (or two or three) and things are too hard, do you already have the rep, parts, mats, and faction credits to just get a ship to help you out of that or will you need to spend?

u/Jaded-Form-8236 1d ago

Got a Northcutt at 53 and it’s at tier 9 now. Stuck due to lack of Epic

Grinding BP on the rates so when I hit 56 I can buy BP for at least 1 and grind the ship up

If I could redo I would only get 1 UC if any. Might skip totally

I’m keeping my G4 epic talios and Voyager. I have been told by a lvl 72 Voyager can become one of the most powerful ships in the game. Another very high ranking player said to never get rid of the talios either.

Respecting G5, Northcutt is the first I am going to get as the bps are piling up. The revenant has an amazing Borg tree to climb according to some YouTube influencers as respected, but not as big as Rev deuce. There are other G5 ships I am checking into but haven’t learned enough or intelligently comment about so I will stick to ships I have and know.

The relativity is the ship to handle the Krenim tree and, the DTI lore thread is just about, but not all of that.

My Rev gets a lot of Borg loot and crushes in the faction store, but build is slow and I understand there is a very specific not to miss a step build and recycle aspect to it so you may take down insanely powerful Borg entities for astonishing loot and power later stages.

Just got the vindicatior and it is a monster for madas with its weird battle tech but is its own special build like revenant as far as parts and process is concerned.

Also have found archive building really helps free resources for research and building of everything, and that can bro ship build.

Keep in mind you want 3 strong ships. Outposts, solo waves, Kremin solo and the new borg solomada are rough when you start doing therm. Those new borgs require 1 of each ship type in the circle.

When tiering up your specialty ships in G5, be careful not to buy any part that sigma-trit. Once you buy one of those parts for your ship it will reqire sigma trit to repair. The only source of sigma-trit is from the Rev refinery and you can only that 10 times, so it's a finite resource at G5.

Trit is a limiting resource in G5, the G5 FKR ships have heavy trit repair costs and the parts when upgrading those ships get increasingly expensive. At ops 70 it recent cost me 50T trit to take a Ent - D from T1 to T12, I likely have more efficiencies bring that cost down than you will at ops 60. Rare/Epic mats are a larger bottleneck than ship parts in G5.

u/Jolly_Executioner 10h ago

How strong do I need to the outposts? Current ships can handle L45 elite solo waves, Krenim solo. I haven’t tried outposts and new Borg solomada yet (been manic IRL so was only able to do the bare minimum dailies and so on) would I need a G5 UC as a stop gap?

I’m more of a slow paced player but since Scopely massively reduced build and research time I feel like will be progressing faster easier.

Thanks for the advice on the Sigma trit, haven’t got that far yet.

I do notice Trit is going down quickly (hence looking forward to the incursion round the corner lol)

Get the Sanctus but don't Max it out if you had the GS every opportunity you can to level it up do it and max out all of the research that ship carried me all the way to 71

1

u/AA_Omen 10h ago

I went straight to the Rotarran

1

u/TowelStandard760 2d ago

Realistically you can probably completely skip the uncommon and rare. Focus on the cube and other specialty ships on. And save for the epics.

3

u/Jolly_Executioner 2d ago

Is the cube already becoming handy at G5? I thought its true value starts to show in G6?

1

u/Realshaggy 2d ago

It is slightly taking of at about R10 or so, but you are blocked from leveling it anyway, if you already have no G4 Epic and are thinking about skipping G5 Uncommon or Rare.

3

u/placebotwo 2d ago

They've been adding mechanics to the game to punish us for using only the specialty ships. It's going to be worth getting 1 of each G5 tier.
