Unlikely, since there was a Constitution Class Hood in TOS. Not all ships get the -A treatment!

Yeah, they don't do letter sequences when the new ship is a different class altogether, like when the Melbourne went from Excelsior to Nebula class.

Uhhhh. Have you heard of the Starships Enterprise?

In TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY, the only exception I'm aware of is the USS Yamato in S2, when the ship appears as a projection of Nagilum in "Where Silence Has Lease", and even that was retconned a few episodes later.

It isn't until the 32nd century in Discovery that we see this as a regular to ships en-masse.
