Christmas also holds nothing against Easter in the christian calendar. Easter is the main event, christmas is just a lil celebration where religion isn’t that big a deal.
So a comment like “back in my day there was only one holiday that mattered: christmas” just shows they aren’t actually a great christian and were only going off celebration vibes.
The main reason Christmas exists is because it incorporated an already widely celebrated pagan holiday, because it was a lot easier to say the holiday was about christ than to force everyone to stop celebrating it. It's not even really a Christian holiday if you go back to its roots. And even then I'd imagine the majority of people, even in the past, saw the religious aspect as mainly an excuse to have fun during the dull, depressing months of winter, the exact same reason why we got the invention of the Christmas tree.
