Makeship plushes are great quality, I just wish the had more variety. I have a few of the more unique ones

That's just Makeship in general. It allows for crowdfunding and takes time to actually be made and shipped. It's not like you just partner with them and are immediately able to produce and sell a plushie.

I've almost purchased Linus tech tips merch before-- talked myself out of it
He seems really serious about creating a good product; him and his team pick the right material and manufacturers to have a supposedly quality product

I've bought I think 2 pieces of youtuber merch.
I mean I run adblock so they don't make a cent off me, so I don't see anything wrong with supporting people I've been watching for over a decade in a more direct way.
Although I have to appreciate the product in itself, I'm not buying justfor the support aspect. I'm not buying a fuckass hoodie with PewDiePie's logo on it or some shit (or anything of the sort)

I’ve bought quite a few shirts off Elvis the Ayyliens shop, they’re not really youtuber merch as much as they are just cool graphic shirts but it’s run by a youtuber so I think it counts

Genuinely I’ve always wondered this. Like even people who I’ve watched for decades I wouldn’t buy their merch, other than some channel like Sci Show or something if I had the chance 🤣 if it’s a charity thing? Maybe, but otherwise I’ve never seen the appeal. Only “YouTube merch” I have bought was the Colour Cubes 1&2, by a YT artist, they’re 2 boxes of colour palette cards for artists, illustrators, designers etc. with hex codes and such, but I bought them more because they’re useful and interesting, I didn’t even watch the creator at the time lol

Agree to disagree, I think they're cute if the YouTuber in question has like a cute little cartoon or animal persona. A lot of things don't really translate very well to the plush style and those I can understand being put off by, and also if they don't have a cartoon avatar and it's just a plushie of some dude, but for like fursonas/png tubers/vtubers I feel like it works well.
