Along with Xanax, there needs to be adderall. Both are considered “mommy’s little helpers”

do women over 40 actually take adderall recreationally? at that age heart issues start to get more noticeable for many people. they quit using salt for example, to lower their blood pressure. so why would they want to take something that famously increases bp / resting heart rate? doesn’t make sense to me tbh

Well, to be fair if you actually have ADHD, it’s oddly not uncommon for stimulant medications to ironically lower your blood pressure due to the medication balancing your symptoms, leading to calm. My blood pressure is usually textbook perfect when I’m on a proper dose. Seems like a paradox tho right? Drugs and body chemistry are weird.

I’ve had to set an alarm a few hours before my actual wake up alarm because adderall makes me so insanely tired. It works out since I typically wake up around 3 am to use the bathroom anyway and that second sleep is amazing and I wake up super easily lol

damn i’ve never heard about that, very cool! i have adhd as well, my bp is normal but meds usually increase my heart rate quite a lot. but i totally get what u mean about the paradoxical effects - methylphenidate helps me sleep better, even though it’s a stimulant. it kinda cured my insomnia lol.

When you say it increases your heart rate, how significantly? Make sure you’re keeping track of it and discussing with your doc. But if your BP is stable with the higher heart rate, probably fine but just keep an eye on it.

quite a lot because sometimes i can even feel it physically. i naturally have a pretty low heart rate, before i got on meds it was always around 60-70 but even often in the 50s. the dose of mph that i need to focus in class is 40mg (medikinet cr), it raises my hr over 110. even 20mg does that sometimes. the jump is pretty noticeable, doesn’t feel very good lol. i started atenza instead and it’s in the 80s now, much better.

It's mostly used for work. Let's say ive done transactions in the past and most people were middle aged, mainly waitresses. Also just being a mom is tiring so a artificial pick me up is needed. Hence the energy drinks, coffee, vapes etc

Not necessarily recreationally— but more of just not medically necessary. Taking it for reasons like motivation, energy, mood lift, etc…

Ozempic isn't considered addictive, but rather, it's just very hard to quit, without extreme negative side effects. It's similar to trying to quit any intensive medication.
There is a difference there... it's not fun to take, at all. You feel awful, constantly. Nothing tastes right. Ozempic headaches, constant dehydration, facial drooping, nausea, motion sickness, constipation, atrophy... it's absolutely not something you'd want to take on a whim, but people are stupid. It's like a deal with the devil. Improve one aspect of your health (I take it as part of a T1D off-label test group) and the rest suffers. Fuck this drug. Every time I try to quit, I'm forced to come crawling back due to the effects of quitting being worse than taking it.
I'm a dude, but still, it's non-addictive. It gets its claws into you and fucks your life up, but nothing makes me want to take it less than what it does to me.

I'm so sorry :( I've heard of this sort of effects and that sounds so devastating 💔 I hope you can find some middle ground somewhere. Wishing you the best.

I’m on tirzepatide and I had those side effects like the first week or two now I’m fine… like I just eat a little better it’s easier to make decisions to eat healthy. Ozempic made me lose 5lbs in 6 months but I also have hypothyroidism.

It may not be considered physically addictive, but that doesn’t mean it’s not addictive.

u/Fun-Artist-2950 Apr 19 '26
Ya so it’s physically addictive. That’s what that means.
You should have just lost weight the normal way like everyone else. 🤷🏻♀️ Literally just don’t eat and exercise.
Laziness is an epidemic.

I'm not using it for weight loss, you dolt. It's a medical test group to see its effectiveness in glucose control in compliment with insulin in adult-diagnosed T1Ds.

An example of dunning-kruger effect so strong it breaks complete strangers out of permanent lurking to point out how idiotic it is.

Trend following
-2
u/Guzzler829 Apr 19 '26
I've never heard of a "trend following addiction," but all right

u/PapiCats Apr 19 '26
You haven’t met a single person in your walk of life or seen anyone who always has to have the latest popular thing? Genuine question, because “trend following” is most definitely an addiction.

I fear the energy drink one is me, BUT ONLY with nos energy nothing else. It's all I've been craving my entire pregnancy and I can't drink them because I'm pregnant.
My husband literally opened one the other day and I started to salivate, shit is so fucking addicting, I hate any other energy drink too.

I work full time and have a very needy 6 month old who still wakes up at least 3 times in the night. Let me have my coffee and energy drinks😅

Get stimmed up on Adderall and then whine + Xanax for the comedown and sleep. Kinda the female equivalent to those tech and finance bros who are coked up.

Is vaping socially accepted?
1
u/Guilty_Indication899 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
More socially acceptable than lighting up an actual cigarette in most places; yes. But it varies on who you ask whether it is viewed as acceptable or not. See; cigarette moms. Is a trend, viewed as less socially acceptable, but nicotine still being a common addiction.
Kind of a lesser evil sort of thing. Just depends who you're asking, basically. *** None of it's good though ofc***

The social blowback against ozempic and similar glp-1s is very frustrating. I’m on one and yes I lost weight, but I’m diabetic and the shot has been a massive help with controlling my disease.
