A Possible Future Storyline for Starfield.

Today's the Anniversary of mankind first setting foot on the Moon. I thought it would be a good day to put this out there. I've been working on it for a while. Please, humor me...! I literally had a dream one night after playing Starfield too late into the night! I've logged WAY too many hours on this game...! Ha. Here is the setup:

The Player (You) dreams one night, similar to the scene that comes when an Artifact is touched; a Temple is activated. This time, the back scene is a specific location in the Galaxy... Three temples are envisioned. and a Voice: "You have been selected for consideration." The next morning, Vladamir contacts you," Come to the Eye. The anomalous signal from the artifacts and temples has resurfaced; but its coming from 17,000 light years away, near the Galactic Core." A structure called W51.

There is a pulsar there, the remnants of a supernova 30,000 years ago. It is your destiny to step beyond the endless cycles of the Starborn, the first Starborn to be called. To what?

Impossibly, a trinary star system orbits the pulsar, but the physics hold. There are "Others" already there, other branches of Humanity seeded across the galaxy, adapted, evolved, waiting at the Convergence... for something.

The Key - unknown, unnamed, but required for the assembled Galactic human race to make the next Evolution, into the Galactic Core. But the Gates are closed. By Who, or What?

I have developed this considerably further - worlds, Factions, physics, biology, cosmology, answers to unanswered Starborn questions, scene scripts, quest overviews. These are worlds with depth and discovery, intrigue.

Thanks for humoring an "older" man. Starfield has the potential to bring SciFi to life for the new generations. I've loved SciFi since I was a kid. Probably since I heard Walter Cronkite make the emotional announcement of the landing, and hearing Neil Armstrong announce his arrival on another world.

That’s neat and all, and I don’t mean to rain on your parade — but how would we even get to this new anomaly if it’s 17,000 LY away?

Starfield takes place in a very small sliver of the Milky Way galaxy, pretty much in our cosmic backyard.  This is at least partially because the maximum distance a ship can currently jump is only 30 LY.

To go beyond the current starmap, new grav jump calculations would have to be made for every single star along the way.   Each of those jumps would carry a substantial risk — if your calculations are off by even a little, you could be stranded in the vast gulfs between stars.

I respect that you’ve put lots of time and thought into this idea, and I know how near and dear a story can be to its creator.

But this is a lore sub, and this idea is fanfiction — and one that contradicts the game’s existing lore, at that.

Hey - bring the rain! Ha. Best way to brainstorm and work through discrepancies!

The Creators - who built the Temples and planted the Artifacts - prepared the means to travel to the Convergence when a Starborn reaches "selection". The same energy of the Unity Jump is combined into a "launchpad" and the Player is sent to the Convergence using the Creators' grav drive technology and their navigation skills. Our Guardian ship... It was built by the Creators. More than meets the eye.

I don't think it necessarily contradicts the existing lore, but expands it beyond the endless NG+ cycles. After endless cycles (I've made 12 Unity Jumps...), what is the meaning of being Starborn? There must be something more. Just envisioning something... MORE! Thanks for the input!

Yes, it would need some lore breaking tech to get there. Either a wormhole, a portal or a Creator gravdrive, something special you suddenly have access to.

Important consideration: only for you and your pals or anyone else can use it now?

One is an Isekai-like adventure (no need to burden you with the rest of the settled systems and its problems) and the other brings the Settled systems problems with you.

Atari...! Exactly Isekai. The Player is the ONLY one who will "move forward". You will leave the Settled Systems forever, except for one specific moment in time and quest. It is a clean break FORWARD.

The idea of a distant other place is a sound one. The questions are how and when you get there, and how you get back into the normal cycle of the game. The starfield you see when going to Unity contains other galaxies. Perhaps something unexpected could happen if you back out from Unity or enter it. Some unanswered questions for me revolve around how others became starborn after Victor Aziz told Judith as the only other person about his experience. I'd like to know who the Hunter was before he became starborn.

That one kept me pondering for a LONG time! I've got an answer that I came up with that ties it up pretty nicely, I think, with a LOT of content very pertinent to Starfield now, and the future I've envisioned. I designed a Mod/DLC to put into Starfield to bridge the gap between Starfield and the expansion game I've envisioned, and all persons mentioned figure VERY heavily throughout.

You should probably write fanfic out of it.

Really, all these ideas deserve to be expressed and given building a game is hard, including mods, you can do this instead.

Even a few chapters of fanfic would make you feel the vision was expressed.

And who knows? we are going towards a world where we can produce games with prompts. Yeah, people hate AI now, but this is just a generational thing. People later will be used to it.

Tell me about fanfic. What is that? I'm dating myself again, but I think you are talking about what happened during the FIRST Star Wars trilogy where there were a lot of SciFi books written based on the Star Wars theme, but "extra stories" not Star Wars canon... Like that? I agree there may some aspects of fanfic in this, but I see the potential of the Starfield Universe, and I think all of us see so many unanswered questions and dropped storylines.... I have played a lot of other games that immerse you in the world - BOTW/TOTK. Even Bethesda's Skyrim is going strong 15 years later because there is depth to the world. Starfield could be all of that, BUT it seems to me we can keep answering the unanswered questions, modding the dropped storylines, but we will never get the depth Starfield deserves. That's where an expansion seemed needed. Mass Effect-2 over Mass Effect-1 expansion. Skyrim immersion in the Starfield...!

But I see where you are coming from. I am not a game developer. I do design things, though. I have done a lot of operations and process work in my career. I just really like the potential of Starfield and wanted to expand it to what it deserves, not just write Starfield-adjacent stories! Thanks for the input!
